We have three 6th grade Science classes and two 8th grade Science classes blogging here from the Pacific Northwest in Chimacum, WA! Sixth graders are learning a bit about Mt Saint Helens, environmental science through fresh water ecology, and physical science this year. Eighth graders are learning about life science this year. Please join us as we learn Science by exploring our world.

I didn't really like odyssey that much. i didn't really like the food and my cabin smelt bad. the pads for sleeping were like an inch thick and the showers were cold. i like the 9 mile hike though. it was pretty fun. i liked the longhouse in the makah museum it was cool to see what they lived in. but overall i didn't really like odyssey even though there were some fun things.

In my plant experiment we got four cups and put the same amount of dirt in each of them and put the same amount of seeds in each. Our experiment was to see if we could color grass using food coloring and coloring the water. We used the colors blue, green, yellow and our control was regular water. we found that the grass did not change color at all and in fact it slowed the grass growth down because in our control the grass was lush and really tall. In conclusion you cant use food coloring to color grass.

offspring that result from sexual reproduction has more diverse characteristics then offspring that result from asexual reproduction because when you reproduce asexually then you only get genes from one parent but when you reproduce sexually you get more genes therefor you get more characteristics.

There is bacteria everywere in our school. me and Jonny decided to swab 4 different places in our school we swabed the gym floor, the bottom of Jonnys shoe, the toilet seat and the water fountian by the gym. we found that the gym floor had the most bacteria by far. All of the other sections had just little dots of bacteria, but the gym floor had a huge colony of bacteria about the size of a fingernail. So of the 4 spots we swabed the gym floor had the most bacteria.

1. volts were named after Volta because he was the person that made the first battery.
2. Davey's batteries were not practical because they were to big to carry around and be portable.
3. People think that that Volta was not the person that made the first battery because 3000 years ago there were batteries made out of clay that generated
two volts
1. Something that all batteries have in common is that they all eventually die.
2. it has to do with capacity of which is how much energy the battery will store and generate capacity
depends of what the electrodes and electrolytes and how much there is.
3. I would like to see a battery never die so you would not have to charge it.
4. To do this you could have something that would constantly give the battery energy.
