Mieosis vs Mitosis

Article posted January 25, 2012 at 06:18 PM GMT • comment • Reads 821

Simply, mitosis splits apart to be ome two different celss. Meiosis kinda like makes babies. It come together instead of spliiting and in the last phase it creates 2 babies the in the meta phase it creates 4 daughter cells.

My Mitosis split and stages.

Article posted January 25, 2012 at 05:49 PM GMT • comment • Reads 762

Q1: the cromosomes duplicate, then they both seperate and move to the seperate side of walls. The cells elongates, then its plasma membrane grow in. The cell then divides into two sister cells. ThOse cells are able to produce because thier mother is able to give them what they need to survive.

Q2:1- Interphase- In this stage, simply it is the stage were the cromosomes are preparing to split apart. The cell is very active where the the DNA replicates, and the protiens are being made.

2- Prophase- In the first stage of mitosis, the nucleous starts to fadel and proteins and chromotain, condenses into the chromosomes. Each has two chromatids, they have the same gennetic onfo.

3- Metaphase-Tension applied by the spindle fibers aligns all chromosomes in one plane at the center of the cell.

4- Anaphase: Spindle fibers shorten, the kinetochores separate, and the chromatids (daughter chromosomes) are pulled apart and begin moving to the cell poles.

5- Telophase: The daughter chromosomes arrive at the poles and the spindle fibers that have pulled them apart disappear.

6- Cytokinesis: the spindle fibers that are not connected to that cromosomes they make it so only that one is overlapping.

My Polyacrylate Crystal Expierement

Article posted November 8, 2011 at 06:12 PM GMT • comment • Reads 1302

Me and my team did an experiment wondering if the crystals would grow differently in different temperatures of water. The answer to our hypothesis after to days of observing was that the colder the water the bigger the crystals got. The first day we filled three different vials with 20 ml of tap water we then put one in the fridge one under the heat lamp and the last on the counter. throughout the 2 days we averaged the sizes of the crystals and it showed that THE COLDER THE BIGGER! Some things that could of went wrong is different amounts of water and that the vile in the fridge could of been put in a colder spot the first day then the second. At the end of it all i now understand that different environments really do effect whats in it. and i have evidence

Organisms

Article posted October 20, 2011 at 06:27 PM GMT • comment • Reads 1218

many organisms cant survive unless their environment is in the condition for them. we had 5 different substances that we put into 15 different vials 5 of them with salt water 5 with water and 5 with sugar water. Some substances like yeast and radish's grew in some liquids and not the others. in the beginning most of the substances had no signs of being alive because they weren't moving breathing or doing anything. then after 48 hours the radish's started to spout in the water and the brine shrimp also started to hatch from mini eggs in water also. All the substances that were put into liquid one nothing changed which is weird because brine shrimps preferred environment is salt water.. In the second liquid substance b made the water cloudy, substance c the balls grew, substance d the radishes started sprouting and the last substance E the brine shrimp started to hatch into little things. In liquid 3 substance A,D and E didn't change but C the little balls became bigger and B made the water very white and cloudy. This experiment really proves that things can only live or produce depending on what their enviremoent is like.

Global warming

Article posted September 30, 2011 at 09:12 PM GMT • comment (1) • Reads 1436

Yes of course there are many things people can o stop it. we all need to stop driving so much, rides bikes and carpool. choose more energy efficient appliances around your home. we can wash clothes in cold water and only run the dishwasher when it is full. cut down on garbage and packaged materials and recycle more. we should eat less meat and buy more local grown organic food. global warming is the rise in temperatures of oceans and air. we do need to do something now or thing are going to get out of hand. ice and polar caps are already melting and animals if we don't do something now the number of lost lives of animals is going to decrease. if we don't do something now greenhouse gasses and global warming id gonna take over.

Elastic force and what I learned

Article posted May 5, 2010 at 09:57 PM GMT • comment • Reads 1862

What I learned about Elastic Force in Rubber Bands rises

Elastic Force is measured in newtons. You connect a rubber band to a newton scale and hook the othe end of the band to something thatt wont move. You pull thee newton scale which will stretch the rubber band and then it will tell you how much elastic force its using in newtons at the certain points where you stop pulling the band. When you use a more strechy rubber band the less elastic force it will take to pull it 20.cm then if you used a unstretchy rubber band.

Changing of Energy

Article posted April 23, 2010 at 10:14 PM GMT • comment (3) • Reads 1209

When my group put the bateries into the charger we plugged it in and the outlet transfered electical energy into the battery which when it got into the battery turned into Stored Chemical Energey. The stored chemical energy is portable so when we took the batteries out of the charger nd into the flashlight the bateries still worked. When it goes into the flashlight the stored chemical energy changes into light/heat energy which makes the lightbulb stay on. If you were trying to make a motor run it would turn into mechanical energy instead of heat/light energy. When there is wires connecting to everything it will go from the negative side of the battery to the posotive back to the battery which creaates a circut.

weed pulling

Article posted November 30, 2009 at 05:21 PM GMT • comment (1) • Reads 2123

When I first heard that we were going to pull weeds and look at the creek at the grange I was pretty dang exited. The biggest service that we provided by doing that was cleaning the weeds and blackberry's up so the trees that were planted could grow more healthy. Also so the enviromeant around that area of the creek was better for the creek, aaaaaaaaaaand make it so the creek stayed healthy.

MY favorite part of the experience was just getting to go outside and have fun doing something that would help our community grow in a good way. Then what was so cool was we got to look at the creek and then we got donuts at the end before we left.

EVERYTHING WAS REALLY FUN=http://

Fresh Water Pollution!

Article posted November 2, 2009 at 09:51 PM GMT • comment • Reads 1766

Hello welcome to this pamphlet. It is about Fresh Water Pollution. Shane S. Henry L. and Deidra M. from Mr. G’s science class produced this. Fresh water Pollution is when oil, gas or any other chemical or object that is dangerous to the water and the species in it gets into the water.

What is water Pollution?

Water Pollution occurs when waste products or other substance change the physical, thermal  (heat), chemical or biological chrematistics of the water, adversity affecting species and reducing the waters beneficial uses.

What are some of the sources of water pollution?

The potential to pollute water in many ways run off from streets carries oil, rubbers heavy metals and other containments from automobiles. Untreated or poorly treated sewage can be low dissolved oxygen and high in pollutants. Such as fecal coli form bacteria it rates phosphors, chemicals, and other bacteria.

What are nitrates and how do they get into our water supply?

Natural Compound presents in all ecosystems. It is one of the chemicals essential to plant life. Much can be problem for plants and animals. It is also a composite of chemical and manure based fertilizers.

Properly recycle or dispose of pollutions before they contaminate soil water and air

The EPA has established a maximum contamination level of nitrates to be 10mg/L. That is not that high. And it is important that we only drink this much because we could get very sick and die!

What is considered to be the safe level for nitrates in drinking water?

What are some of the consequences of water pollution?

It affects and moderate temperatures and dramatically influence global climate. The oceans recycle and clean the air we breathe every day!

What should a person do if there are high nitrate levels in their water supply?

You should contact their heath recourses. You should only drink bottled water if you have heard that any one around you that has high nitrate level in their water supply.

What can be done to improve the quality of water after it has become polluted?

Solutions involve finding sustainable ways for the urban area to reduce both its independence on pollutions and the amounts of pollutions it produces. We need to do a lot of things including. Properly recycle or dispose of pollutions before they contaminate soil water and air.

What are some actions that can be taken to help prevent water from becoming polluted?

Get a big can or box and put it in the ocean then suck up all the pollution from the water. It will be like a filter in the ocean. We can also just not drive as much and the gas from the car will help to not pollute the water.

What are point and non-point sources and how are they different?

Point and non-point sources of pollution are the following. A point source is oblivious pollution like a pipe gushing sudsy water into a river. A non-point source is like a point source you cannot point at or see.

Volcanoes and LAVA

Article posted October 28, 2009 at 03:25 AM GMT • comment • Reads 2120

So 3 types of volcanoes are1: Composite volcanoes which are, ten thousand ore more feet high. They are considred a hollywood type volcano, they are also the large size of ten miles across.

#2. A Cinder Cone volcano, they are pretty small volcanoes. The amount of lava is close to none, this volcano also has very grainy cinders.

#3. A Sheild volcano, they aremostly found in differen't parts of Hawaii. It is a very wide volcano and is also thousands of feet high. The kind of the Shield volcano has the biggest volcano in the world.

three kinds of lava are,

#1. The Low Water/Low Silica lava is mostly a pretty runny lava type, so technicaly it has alot of visocity. It is not runny like water but more realisticly like hot honey or hot wax.

#2. The High water/High silicahas lts of disolved gasses and its high viocity is deadly.as the lava ooze's to the surface, the gasses quickly become bubbles.

3. High water/low silica lava shows behavior's that are similar to our anoligies of blowing bubbles in water or a milk shake. If a erupting volcanohas low viocity (like water) it flowsout of the central surface.
