My team and I did a experiment with cockroaches. We wanted to know if the cockroaches like wet surfaces or dry surfaces. Most of the times the cockroach liked the dry surface. But one time the cockroach went to the wet surface. Overall the cockroach seemed to like the dry surface.

This week my group is doing an experient with snails. We built a house out of black paper, set it on the table and put the snail in the middle of the darkness in the house of just the light from the room. We did this experience to see if the snail likes the light or the darkness. For trail two we are going to put some food in the house and see if the snail wants the food in the darkness or just to go in the light.

Plant Experiment

The past few weeks we have been doing a plant experiment on rye grass. We watered the rye grass with salt water and sugar water. We used four viles to water the rye grass with salt water, another four viles we watered the rye grass with sugar water, and two more wiles we watered the rye grass with just regular tap water. We thought that the rye grass would grow with the sugar water and we didn't really think that the rye grass would grow that much with salt water, but we thought it would grow at least a little bit. The rye grass didnt grow for a few weeks, then the rye grasses watered with the sugar water started to grow mold and it kept growing more and more, the rye grass watered with the salt water made salt crystals on top of the soil, even the rye grass watered with regular water didnt grow. We researched on what the salt or sugar water effect is on rye grass. For the salt it said that some salt helps the rye grass absorb nutrients but it says that too much salt will kill rye grass. For the Sugar it says that it helps the rye grass grow but it still didn't grow.

Bacteria in our school!

In the past week we started a bacteria lab. My group took 4 q-tips and wet the ends. We swabbed the toilet seat, the water fountain, the ipad screen and a door handle! Our question was 'What part of our school has the most bacteria?' The water fountain had the most bacteria, there was bacteria all over the water fountain part of the petri dish, it was kinda yellow. The toilet had the 2nd most bacteria, There were yellow splatters on the petri dish. The IPad screen some drops two were kinda big and four were tiny, the size of needle points. The door handle had as much bacteria as the iPad screen and the drops were kinda brown. We might have been inaccurate on the bacteria because there might have been bacteria in the air that got on the q-tips. It's gross to think that bacteria is all over our school!

Mitosis slpits apart and becomes two different cells. Meiosis comes together instead of splitting. In the metaphase it creates 4 daughter cells. That is the difference between Mitosis and Meiosis!
