Madagascar hissing cockroaches are wingless and get their name from their ability to compress air out of their abdomen to create a hissing sound. They like to live on the floor of Tropical forests ne'er river banks. These cockroaches are brown and oval shaped. Males have large horns which they use in aggressive encounters.

Odyssey was ok for me it wasn't really bad but it's really just what u make of it. I like the marine science center kind of I really like touching the touch tanks and transferring fishes from a net that had fishies in it from the sea and put them into a bucket full of water that was fun! But the rest of it was kinda boring...the hikes are what u make of them, pick a good hiking buddy and you will have fun! Hanah was my hiking buddy on ozette that was a great hike!(:

In my group their is Audrey Olivia and me!(: our experiment studdies how snails choice in color changes while living in different shades, white and black. We are going to put a snail in a all white box and a snail in a all black box, once we let them put we will see what color they are attracted to. Yeah that's the plan(:

Rhingrass experiment

Article posted April 17, 2012 at 05:21 PM GMT • comment (2) • Reads 740

For ourexperiment we had 4 different cups with rhi grass seeds in them and we out salt water in one sugar water in another. We also had one with hot water just from the fosset and one with cold water. Over like 2 weeks the sugar and salt water cups did not grow at all. The sugar cup didnt grow at all because the sugar cant dissolve into the soil because it lowers the osmotic potential of the soils water. Soil water normally has a higher osmotic potential than the water inside of the plant, because if this the grass naturally draws water up into its self. If the soil ends up having an overall lower osmotic pressure than the plant the water will not flow from the soil to the plant, killing it because no matter how much you water it the sugar stops the flow. Salt water can also kill plants. The salt draws water away from the plants roots and messis with the plants ability to receive nutrients from the soil and photosynthesize.

Genetic Question

Article posted March 2, 2012 at 05:56 PM GMT • comment • Reads 835

Explain why offspring that result from sexual reproduction are likely to have more diverse characteristics than offspring that result from asexual reproduction
Answer: Offspring’s with sexual reproduction are likely to have diverse characteristics, because with sexual reproduction you get half of your mothers genetics and half of your fathers genetics. Yet with asexual reproduction the cells is basically copying its self and splitting apart making it identical to the last.
