Hey, future 4th graders! You might be nervous or excited to go into 4th grade. I recommend the excited feeling. But if you're nervous, don't worry! There are plenty of fun things to do, regardless of your class! Okay, okay. There are tests now and then, but those tests are on awesome subjects that you will study. What? You're still not convinced?
Well, if I tell you about some subjects that we study, you are sure to get excited. Geography... your first subject. Here you will learn about the continents and oceans of the world. You will also learn about longitude and latitude along with geography. Landforms will be your 2nd subject. You will learn about volcanoes, earthquakes and things like that. And after many other subjects, there is simple machines. This is where you make your own compound machine. Exciting, huh? What? You say yes?!
I'm glad you finally agree with me that 4th grade is fun. and spread the news around. Especially nervous people. 4th grade is fun!

My Simple Machine Group

I chose photo #4 because my group was working on the simple machine the incline plane(or ramp). The incline plane is a simple machine that helps lift heavy objects. Lifting a heavy object like into a truck takes a lot of work. But the incline plane lets you lift objects more easily but it has to travel a longer distance. That is an incline plane.

A is red, as red as the stripes on an American flag and the color of a stop sign.
E is blue, like the cold stare of an eye.
I is green like cool blades of grass and leaves on a tree.
O is clear like the gases around me and glass separating thing from thing.
U is purple like the color of your skin when you overdo something.

Whew! Spring break is over and it's back to school for me! For once in my life I'm glad break is over. Why? Well the sentences I'm about to give you should make it obvious why. MY SPRING BREAK WAS EXTREMELY BORING!!! But it was one specific day that really stood out. And I'm going to tell you about that day.
It was April Fools. One of my favorite days of April. And every trick I tried to play backfired. My sister was taking care of me. My first trick I tried to play was to sneak out of bed and trick my sister. But my sister caught me in the process. Strike one. On my other trick, I dressed up in a freaky zombie costume and tried to scare my sister. But my costume fell off and my sister laughed at me. Strike two. Hold it! I didn't do anymore tricks. better safe then sorry. For the rest of the time, I was extremely bored.
And that was my boring day. I've never been so bored. But school is back. And I'm happy!

"Hey, come on Tim!" "Yeah Tim!" The basketball boys were desperate for another player, and were trying to persuade Tim to play. Tim was bad at sports, and when he said no, the other boys beat him up while making a big collision. And the last thing Tim wanted was to collide with those boys. But the teacher saw the whole thing. "Boys! Who gave you permission to beat up this boy!" Tim was an absolute outcast to the school. But most of all, he was hated buy the Principal, Mike Larson. To Tim, it was like he radiated the power to scare the pants off of people. Anyway, Tim suddenly saw the basketball rolling on the court stop abruptly and float into the air. Then, he heard voices in his head saying,'I will get you', as if the basketball was sending a transmission to him."WHAT THE, WHAT THE HECK!? AHHHHHH!!!""Hey, what is all this commotion?" Mike had come out of the building.
Tim was in the waiting room of the principal's office. He had gotten in big trouble for making all that racket. All of a sudden, he saw the same basketball float in the hallway, and was transmitting the same message into his head. Then the basketball started heading toward him. Tim screamed. Mike came bursting out of the office."That's it,"Mike said."I'm telling your parents!"
At Tim's house, he made a tough decision. He decided that he would go back to his school at night to check on the basketball."Mom, can I go to the basketball court to practice?" I asked."I give you a permit that you can go<" my mom said. My mom always uses fancy words like that. When I got to the court, I saw the basketball already floating, and it emit a sound like a cow on a rampage. It went speeding towards Tim, and he was never heard from again.

The Winter Olympics

The article I read was The Gold Standard featuring the Winter Olympics 2010 Winter Olympics by Claudia Atticot. It is mainly about the american stars of the olympic games. These games took place in Vancouver, Canada, in 2010. Some important people in the article are Shaun White, Lindsey Vonn, Apollo Ohno and Julia Mancuso. Some facts are that Apollo Ohno is the Winter Olympic Champion, Shaun White got two gold medals this year, Evan Lysacek is the champion of figure skating, and this was the 21st olympic games. The 21st olympic games is important because that is what the article is talking about and it can be for finding out what the next olympic games is going to be. The fact that Apollo Ohno is the winter olympic champion is interesting because it's cool to be in the country that produced the champion and it is also cool to know how they had gotten so good at their sport. This is my current event.

I'm a Fighter Too - Summary

This article is about women in the army. In my opinion, women should be able to do anything men can. But that's not the rule. Women can be in any part of the army except the fighting unit. Although, they can still fight with long range weapons from helicopters. Most women are nurses or pilots. Scientists think that rule will change in the future though. That's a good sign. But of course, we'll always want to keep peace!

The Presentation with Ginger Zee

I was super excited for the NBC5 weather reporter and meteorologist Ginger Zee to give us a presentation! First, she talked about her childhood. She said that what grabbed her to the weather was that she had once experienced a water spout. That really got our attention. Now she taught us how meteorologists predicted the weather. I always thought they just had lucky guesses . Apparently, they use all kinds of tools like weather balloons. A weather balloon is a powerful balloon with a box attached to it. The box collects data from the troposphere(the first layer of the atmosphere)and sends it back to earth. At the end of the presentation, we would get our pictures taken and we'll be on NBC5! I better tell my mom!

Shiloh Epilogue

19 Years Later
There ain't much that really changed ever since I got me Shiloh from Judd Travers. We got a telephone in our house, so we don't have to drive all the way to Friendly to use one. A few new creations came out like the limozine or sometin' like that. Dad has retired from his job, but still likes to collect aluminum cans and bottles. Becky has achieved her Masters Degree, but she's aiming for a P.H.D.
Dara Lynn has become a pilot. Man I wish I could ride in those giant planes. As for me, I reached my career goal: I became a vet. Every once in a while I would give Shiloh a good checkup. Ma hasn't really changed over the years,
But she's been a bit more cheerful ever since we got this machine called a blender. It's really loud when it blends but Ma just dances to the noise as if it's beautiful music. Judd Travers is... well... you could not tell that he had ever been mean. Every Sunday he eats dinner with us and on holidays he even plays with Shiloh! I've slightly improved my grammer.
I know it still ain't perfect but it's better. I go out on the hill to play with Shiloh and that's what I was doing today.Me and Shiloh rolled down the hill, laughing whenever Shiloh stopped rolling because he was too dizzy. What a good time with Shiloh as I see a flashback of what I did nineteen years ago.

It was super early in the day,
for that he has really gone astray,
for the Jabberwock is the big he,
and he really had to go and see,
but instead of going to the clubhouse,
he stepped right onto the old witch's mouse!
"How dare you walk straight into thee!
For I'm the witch, I'll never flee!"
And for the old witch had cursed him well,
he went outside but could not tell,
because of course he could not talk,
but now he was the Jabberwock.
