Back in the late 1800's, scary to them, seemed to be a ride going 6 mph. From then to today our roller coasters go 135 mph in 3.5 seconds which is really scary. They faced sideways in the 1800's instead of going forward like now. Today we don't always go forward sometimes we go in a 360 which I guess isn't sideways either! When the switch back roller coaster was being made it took four years to make, you would have to be excited for a long time. Now we only have to wait for the X2 for just about six months to be complete.

From the first roller coaster (the switchback) in 1884 to the latest thrill ride (the x2) today, a lot has changed! The switchback was only five cents to ride, think about how much that is compared to today! So much more has changed too! Think about how fast you go on a roller coster today, the switchback only goes 6 mph! Now here's something even more different! The switchback took FOUR YEARS to build, and the x2 only took SIX MONTHS to build! That's not even HALF of the time that it took to build the switchback! WOW!!! Haven't roller coasters REALLY changed!

Everyone knows what roller coasters are like now, but then when you think about it there are a lot of differences of what it was like now and what it was like in 1884. For example: Now we have roller coasters that go to around 135 mph, while in 1884, they only went around 6 mph! Also, in 1884, they used to charge only a nickel to ride the rides, when now it costs around 5 dollars! That's 10 times then!!!
When you think about it, the differences are so grate, there's almost too many to list!

Roller Coasters are cool. The first roller coaster was caller the Switchback railway. there are roller coasters out there like theX2 in California Magic Mountain. How woud you like riding in a roller coaster with a 50 foot platform!! There allso is a 600 foot track or going as fast as 6mph. But gess what it took four years to take with 7000 people. Unlike X2 the seats Rotate 360 degrees. It is scary because there is tunnels,noises,fog and flashing lights. would you want to go on a 50 story drop. Did you no that opening X2 was a big hit about 1600 people came just for that. Witch one would rather riding

100 years ago, roller coasters were very new. their speed was only 6 mph. Today roller coaster speed goes from 0 to 135 mph. 100 years ago 7,000 people needed to help to build it. And a few thousand had to help build it today. Today roller coasters have flashing lights in the tunnel and the 100 years ago roller coasters did not have flashing lights.

Roller Coasters from today and yesterday are very different from one another. In the 1800’s there was a roller coaster called the Switchback. It went 6 mph, Started on a 50 ft high platform and goes down a 600 ft track. It was controlled by a crank and it took four years to build. Todays roller coasters like the X2 go up to 135 mph. the seats rotate 360 degrees. It has a drop of 121 feet it only took 6 months build. Compared to the Switchback the X2 took wasy shorter to build

Back in 1884 a guy named Thompson invented the roller coaster called the Switchback Railway. This roller coaster went 9 miles per hour and was a nickel to ride. The roller coaster like where the people sit was 50 feet long and it was a 600 foot high platform that they would go down from.
Today the roller coasters are way better and faster. The roller called the x2 is in California and has a fifty story drop so that is 400 feet tall. The ride to make it cost $10 million and the x2 hurt 1,800 people.

Back in the 1800's the roller coasters weren't nearly as fun and amusing as they are now. To ride them back then it only coasts a nickel but that was a fortune to them. For us just to get in the park it coasts 100$ per person. Also there roller coasters only went six mph and ours goes 135 miles in 3.5 seconds. Are roller coasters were so popular that the lines to get on them could be miles long. When there's is less than 20 feet. I think it was neat to learn the differences from back then!!!

A lot of things have changed since the 1800's on roller coasters. The Switchblade was made out of wood while roller coasters today are now made of sturdy metal. Roller coasters now go much faster, like going from 0 mph to 135 mph in just 2.5 seconds! The only bad thing about our new coasters is that they are much more expensive. From $1,600 100 years ago to $10,000,000 today! Some day, you can build a roller coaster!

In the 1800s the roller coaster only went 6 miles per hour now it goes 135 miles per hour. Back then it went to a 50 foot platform right now it goes 456 feet into the air. Back then it costed 1,000 dollars now it costs 10 million dollars. Back then it cost a nickel to ride it now it costs 10 dollars to ride it. back then it took four years to build it now it only takes six months.

roller coasters had changed over time and the old roller coasters were wood and they were side ways the new roller coasters now straight so you can see better.but the old roller coasters didnt have seat belts!!! but the roller coaster only goes 6 mph. now the roller coasters go fast and high and do have seat belts. and some roller coasters go upside down =http://

In the late 1800's, roller coasters were highways to success. They were new, so everyone was crazy about them. You would ride on a bench-like seat that had a buckle that kept you safe. But now, roller coasters are much different. With seats that rotate 360 degrees to tunnels with noises, fog and flashings lights, our roller coasters are a big improvement. There are now more than 300 amusement parks in the USA and many more in other countries. The 1800's roller coasters are much different than ones now, but they are fun to whom ever they give their joy to, no matter if their are in 1800, or in 2010.
