I didn't know that celebrating the 100th day of school could be so much fun! My grade 2/3 class spent the whole morning with the kindergarten class and their substitute teacher, Mrs. Bottom. Mrs. Topp was feeling a little under the weather. Did you know that Mrs. Bottom is 100 years old? Mr. Silversides' class also had a substitute. His name was Mr. Kranky and boy, did he live up to his name. The children did a variety of activities together. We went for a scavenger hunt for 100 "kisses". We made cup stacks with 100 cups and we made necklaces out of 100 Fruitloops. We even had a visit from Zero the Hero. During the afternoon my children shared their collections of 1000 things.

Chuck Wood is a character in our class. Every day the Boss Hog gets to pose Chuck in a different pose and make a story to go along with the pose. Stay tuned for the continuing adventures of Chuck with his partner in crime, Rose Wood.

We've been doing yoga for the last couple of weeks. The children are really enjoying it. I'm even getting a little more flexible.

We sang "Little Donkey" for our Christmas Concert on Monday. It goes like this:

Little donkey, little donkey

On the dusty road.

Got to keep on

Plodding onwards

With your precious load.

Been a long time

Little donkey

through the winter's night.

Don't give up now,

Little donkey

Bethlehem's in sight.

Chorus

Ring out those bells tonight

Bethlehem, Bethlehem.

Follow that star tonight

Bethlehem, Bethlehem.

Merry Christmas and to all a good night!

We had a field trip to the Art Museum today. The children got to make snowflakes out of clay. The clay has to dry before it can be fired in a kiln. Then the children can paint them and take them home.

We were invited to the cultural Fair in the gym. The fair was put on by the grade 7s and 8s. I gave the camera to one of my students to take pictures of the displays and this is what I got...Dawson, you took some pretty funny photos.

We have a worm colony in our classroom. They are red wigglers. These worms are ideal for composting fruit and vegetable waste indoors. They eat the compost and produce a rich, nutrient soil with their poop. We harvested the worms from two colonies and got 2 ice cream pails of worms plus two 5 gallon pails of compost (worm poop). The Pre-K class helped us with our harvest. We got dirt all over the Pre-K room!

I was bringing a camouflage netting to school for the Remembrance Day display. We decided to have some fun with it.
