We're almost done swimming. Friday is the last day. All of the teaching has been done and the children get to have "free time" on Friday.

I had the great fortune of taking a workshop from an artist named Wendy Anderson Halperin. The workshop was about gardening in the classroom. Wendy taught me how to draw monocot and dicot plants. She also did a lesson on drawing a pencil. I was so inspired by her teaching that I did my best to pass this knowledge onto my children. Here are the results.

We have 2 weeks of swimming lessons at the Kinsmen Sportsplex. Ms. Hankins and I are even getting in the water. We're having a blast!

Today was harvest day for the Grade 2/3 and the Pre-K classes. We harvested our carrots, beets and pumpkins. We picked a really hot day to harvest but everyone survived 'cause we're tough!!!

The Grade 2 and 3 class went to the Community Gardens with the Pre-K class today. We dug up carrots and beets. We harvested the pumpkins and the corn. We ended up by cleaning up the weeds.

The Grade 2/3 class and the Grade 7/8 class went on an "Epic Journey" to Wakamow Valley. The two classes are "Learning Partners" this year. Our journey took us along four distinct habitats: valley slopes, marsh, woodlands and meadows.

Our school is learning about the Circle of Courage. It is the 1st Nations view of the four parts of being. The circle includes Belonging, Generosity, Mastery and Independence. We are starting out with Belonging.

I'm in my 28th year of teaching. I've spent the majority of my time teaching grades 1 to 4. I'm presently teaching a grade 1 and lovin' it!!!
