Team 15
Welcome to Team 15. Our class motto is "TOGETHER WE ARE TEAM 15". Every person in our class is expected to work as a member of our team. We are focusing on how to be effective communicators. This involves talking to each other, listening to each other and looking at the person who is speaking. The Westbrook Way is there to guide us for today, and the future. Every child is encouraged to show Whanaungatanga, Respect, Responsilibilty, Initiative and Excellence whilst at school and in the community. These are all key values in our classroom.

Hi Team 15. I hope you are having a great start to your school holidays. I just found a fun website where you can make paper toys. With the weather looking like it is going to be wet, you might like to print some out and make them.
ENJOY!!!

Welcome to an exciting year in Team 15. I love to be able to have fun whilst we are learning.
The games that you can see down the left side of this page, under the title "Related Links" are all educational. They will help you with your learning, but they are also fun.
Take some time to explore the games. Discover which ones you enjoy and add a comment below saying why you like them.

Welcome back Team 15.
I hope you have all had a wonderful holiday!
I have been busy organising all kinds of learning opportunities for you to do this Term.
For maths, we are going to look at Fractions and Proportions. I have added some great games in the links panel (on the left of the screen). I hope these games will help you to understand fractions in a fun way.
I hope you have your creative hats on this Term, as we will be designing our Wearable Arts costumes. I know some of you will create some masterpieces.
We also have our Grease Lightning song to learn and choreograph, so put your minds to work on this also.
See you all soon,
Mrs C.

The Digestive System is one of the many systems that make our bodies work and allow us to live.
Your task this week is to look in the Related Links column on our Blog. Find the Human Body Games. Click on the Link and play some of the many games related to the Human Body. Start with the games about the Digestive System.
Post a comment and tell me about the best Human Body game you played. (Remember to sign your name).

Blog Guidelines
In working with this blog and each of our other web spaces all students need to ensure that they follow these important guidelines. They are designed to make sure that you enjoy these spaces.
• Only ever use your first name or a nickname when you are writing on this or other blogs or wikis
• Never use any other student’s last name
• Never post any personal information–such as your home phone number or home address on this or any other blog or wiki
• Never share any of your usernames or passwords with anyone and never log in as another student
• Always tell your parents or teacher right away if you come across anything that makes you feel uncomfortable
• Remember the “grandma rule” that anything you put on the internet could be read by your grandmother, so only write things you could say to the nicest of grannies
• Be a good online citizen and never write or post anything that could hurt anyone else
• Always check with an adult if someone asks for your phone number or to meet you
• Never make arrangements to meet anyone over the internet without telling your parents
• Make sure you publish only your own work. Don’t under any circumstances use other people’s work and call it your own
• Make sure that you read over your writing before you post it to check the spelling and that it reads okay.

Dear Parents and Caregivers of Room 6 students.
Welcome to Term 2. We have an exciting term ahead of us, with our main focus being ‘Managing Ourselves”. We have had the Life Education caravan at our school and thoroughly enjoyed learning about our feelings and how to be good friends. We will also be learning about Dental Hygiene and Keeping Ourselves Safe this term.
Last week I set up a blog to use as a tool in the classroom to support our learning. A blog, is a basically a web log, or an online diary. Initially we would be using it as a way to share our learning with you, the parents and caregivers and even with other schools around New Zealand and globally. Over the next few weeks I would like to set each child up with their own page on our blog where they can upload their work, use it as a writing space and comment to each other and support each others learning. There are many schools out there blogging and it is a powerful and motivating learning tool for our children.
Obviously there are rules established with the children about blogging and internet use. This is also an important learning opportunity for the children as they learn to become netsafe. This is their future so they need to learn these skills now. If you do not wish your child’s photo to be posted on our blog, please contact me either at school, or by leaving a comment on our blog.
You can find our blog space by going to www.classblogmeister.com and searching for Dominique Chandler. Once you find our blog add it to your favourites for easy access next time. Feel free to have a look and post us a comment. As the classroom teacher I am the moderator. All work that children submit is vetted by me first before being published as are any comments that are posted to our blog. This way I look at everything first and nothing gets onto our blog without my approval.
There are some links on the left hand side of the blog page which are worth exploring. I have included some links to some educational games which will support our in class learning.
There are many other classes blogging and I encourage you to explore these with your children so they can get an idea of what we can create.
Have fun exploring,
Dominique Chandler
