Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone is a story about a young boy called Harry Potter who was delivered by a giant called Hagrid to the front step of a house and it was the Dursleys. Now Harry Potter has to survive is this mean, stressful family and they don't even like him. But then one day Harry gets a letter to go to a school of magic called Hogwarts but his parents will not let him go. But then one night he escapes with his best friend Ron. When they arrive at Hogwarts they meet a girl called Hermionee and they become best friends. Together they get up to lots of mischief and adventure. If you want to find out more you have to read the book!
I rate this book 4 for children and it is very enjoyable.

Lake Whakamaru was awesome. My favourite activity was the archery. It was so much fun and I was so close to getting a bullseye. I was really disapponted when we could not do the marshmallow pit because thats what I was looking foward to most about camp.I really do wish that I could go again.

TJ and I went to Room 16 to meet our new buddy! We chose Tawhiri he was awesome! We spent some time getting to know each other then the teacher said that we could go outside to play on the middle school playground! It was so much fun but then Tawhiri had a accident and he hurt his knee. TJ and I helped him but then we had to go. It was very sad.

Siberian Tiger
Tigers are actually really quite harmless just because they look scary does not mean you need to kill them.
Characteristics
Siberian tigers have light brown and black stripes on their body and underneath they have white along with black pads. Siberian tigers have at least 50 whiskers or less.
Habitat
The tigers habitat is Siberia, South Asia, Eastern Russia, China, dens, swamps, snow fields, lowlands, snow mountains and forests.
Diet
Tigers eat boar, deer, fish, peacock, buffalo, pigs, monkeys, goats and also tigers eat 35kg per hunt!
Behaviour
Tigers are excellent swimmers so that is why tigers like to be near water. Whenever they hunt it will most likely be successful because they have an advantage from size and they eat up to 9kg everyday. Tigers like to nap in the day and hunt at night. Also tigers attack from behind to give their prey a surprising attack. They do it so they can more time to attack and bite the neck. Tigers catch their prey from speed (50mph) sense and smell. Tigers tiptoe through the forest without making a sound. Also tigers main prey is wild boar.
Natural Predators
Tigers are solitary hunters. Tigers like to drag prey to a quiet place to feast on. Usually tigers jump from behind to give a surprising attack.
Humans threatening
Humans are threatening tigers because they are poaching for fur. Also the are a group of men called rangers and if they see poachers they will shoot them.
Climate
Tigers like to live in moist damp areas where there is a cold harsh environment. Also tigers live in cold land like snowfields and snow mountains.
Dangers when bred in captivity.
The dangers in captivity are probably human diseases and injuries from other tigers in the same enclosures.
Classification and Species
The tigers classification is carnivore and mammal. Also tigers scientific name is pathera tigris and whatever tiger it is it would have something on the end of it.
So just remember tigers are not bad so don’t just go shooting one. Take care of one.
William Klava
Glossary
Carnivore: a meat eater
Solitary: they hunt are alone
Poachers: men who kill for fun or other things
Enclosure: where they are kept in a zoo

My skeleton plot writing sample.
An old, rusty Victorian hall is up for a very very cheap sale over in Christchurch.
No one knows, but the Victorian hall has a ‘staff’ of haunted ghosts. But the ghosts think they are so scary and haunting but they are really nice but not to adults just to young couples.
The ghosts can no leave the hall or else the ghost boss will fire them for ever and he will have to get some new ghosts.
It is very important that they get to now the owners. They have to share there hall but they absolutely hate sharing so it would be very hard to know their new owner. They feel they should have a say for who ever comes in the old hall.
A series of dated and amazed people show up to buy the old Victorian hall. First a kind, friendly family comes. But the ghosts chased them outside the building. They were so scared. Next a science teacher comes in but the ghosts don’t like her so they chase her off in a different way.
finally a young couple visits the old, abandoned hall. The ghosts thought this would be easy but then they suddenly realised that they like young couples so they do not try to scare them, in fact the young couple made good friends with the ghosts.
The young, delighted couple buy the hall because they do not want to go away from their caring, helpful ghost friends. So the young couple relaxes while the ghost go back to their old job as being servants of the old abandoned Victorian hall a few years later the young couple had died. They would have to sort a scale. This was a terrifying day for the ghosts because they hate sharing but they are very kind so that is some weird servants.

I am going to tell you an old legend. I know it is true, it happened 20 years ago in 1887, back in the days where bad stories are told like this one I am going to tell you now.
I was walking on a dark gloomy night then I realised I was lost I was terrified as I screamed “help help.” Then it began to snow fast. I knew I could not survive on such a misty, cold night. Then I saw a glimpse of light I followed it then a beautiful house came into sight. He fed me and gave me a drink of water I was amazed with his manners.
The owner of the house was mysterious Then the grumpy, grouchy man began to tell a story that happened three years earlier.
He told me the old, cranky mail coach that was travelling in a snow storm. The horses slipped on some ice then the mail coach flew over a cliff. The two drivers and four men had died that night.
When I saw some light come in the window I set off. But then the owner reminded me that I am going to meet tonight’s mail coach if I set off now and walked past the steep, high cliff on the crossroads. It would take ma bout an hour, but the mail coach would stop there and get a lift back.
I set off I was scared and then I started to feel weird. I lost track of time I was scared because I need to be in bed by 8.00 o’clock. It became darker like it was a five second day and I was surprised when I heard the sound of trotting coming up behind me. I knew it would be the mail coach. They stopped then they nodded as I said, “could I have a lift.”
I hopped inside the brown, rusty coach. It was very dark in the coach then a light turned on there was not two there were three in the back seat. I tried to make an interesting, fascinating conversation but none of them would talk I felt as they were deaf since none of them were talking to me. I suddenly realised something was strange that night with the men I tried to break out through the door of the coach but it was way to tough for such a weak person like me.
Then I heard a terrifying scream like someone has been shot then I got a strange feeling as I was flying through the air it was scary. I woke up in my warm, cosy bed two days later I have been found in a snow drift exactly where the two men and the other three in the back of the mail coach have died.
Nothing else was found there on that very dark, haunting night.

The scarecrow

A kind, friendly family goes on a holiday in the wonderful, relaxing countryside in a beautiful, warm, rented cottage. In the farmer’s field next to the comfortable, cosy cottage, the whole family thought that the scarecrow looked evil, scary and bad looking and they were thinking this in their heads that it’s like it is coming alive.
The oldest chid has to sleep in the living room in the lumpy, rugged bed which was terrifying for her. Her mum and dad slept in the master bed and her brother wants the warm, cosy bed in the other bedroom. That has huge big windows which his sister was jealous about but his sister said, “at least I don’t have to look at that evil looking scarecrow in the paddock.” Terrified, petrified, horrified the boy ran off and started crying to his parents.
The next sunny, warm morning the family goes out but some reason the oldest child stays in the cottage. She is in the kitchen and mysteriously the phone rings. “How weird,” she thought. She answers it, all she can hear was haunting, terrifying, horrifying breathing on the old, rusty phone. Then they hang up.
She starts to get scared as she puts down the old, crackly phone and she thinks someone was watching her. Back in the posh, new kitchen she looks out the clean, new window. The scarecrow was gone. “How haunting,” she thought. She turned on the 60 inch plasma screen TV but it does not work that good. There’s a mysterious knock on the door. She is terrified. She looks out the polished window. There is nobody there. She is terrified as she thought it might have been the haunting, scary scarecrow knocking on the door.
She tries to ring her mum’s fancy new phone but her mum does not answer. The haunting, horrible scarecrow is standing looking through the window. The oldest child is terrified, petrified, horrified. Her mum’s new phone rings. She is terrified. She answers it.
All she could hear on the phone was mysterious laughing.

When I looked up I felt like I was going to explode. While they put the harness, my arms were crossed and legs were shaking like jelly. The first person to go on was Jake. It took ages to get up those stairs. While Jake was up there he shouted “it is very high and long”, and when he said that I was really nervous. WOW=http:// Jake was going so fast and he was throwing his arms and legs everywhere. Finally it was my turn. Running upstairs was so tiring. When they put me in the harness, they gave me a soft push and told me to do Superman, but half way down I stopped doing Superman because it was too scary. I was so close to smashing into the tyres. Gosh, I didn’t want to do that again, but I did do three more turns on the Flying Fox. I just wish I could go again but I couldn’t, that was the end of the Flying Fox. But then I heard that we were going on again and I was so happy.

William
Lynmore Primary School
Iles Road,
Lynmore,
Rotorua,
18th September 2009,
RE: Possums are a pest
Dear Minister of Conservation Hon Tim Groser,
Possums area real threat to new Zealand’s unique flora and fauna. They are damaging the unique plants and animals and I am going to convince you why.
First, possums like to eat the new juicy sweet growth on native trees. This is not very good for the trees as it stops then from growing big. The possum’s favourite trees are New Zealand’s special natives such as pohutukawa, rata, totara, kowhai and kohekohe. In New Zealand possums will go back yo the same tree night after night eating the tree to the end of its life.
Second, possums also disturb nesting birds and sometimes eat their eggs and chicks. Possums have been caught on camera eating kokako eggs and chicks by the Department of Conservation (DoC). This bird is very endangered making the species even closer to extinction, in 20 years time the bird might even be extinct. By eating the native trees the possums are also eating the homes of our native birds and are forcing them out into the cold. Possums have even been known to push kiwi out of their burrows so they can have a dry place to sleep.
Finally, Possums can also be a problem for farmers. Possums spread a disease called Bovine Tuberculosis to cows, cattle and deer. If the farmers animals get T.B. they can get sick and die. This will reduce farming income and profit. Possums cause problems in city gardens too. They eat trees in peoples gardens especially apple, plum, citrus, fruit and roses. Possums are noisy and can keep people awake and they have been known to go inside houses causing problems and make things dirty.
Please, please minister help us save New Zealand’s unique biodiversity by stopping the possums from destroying our flora and fauna.
Yours Sincerely,
William

My legs are long and coloured
red.
I walk a bit like a chicken.
Blue shimmering feathers adorn my head.
And in fresh New Zealand water I like to go tripping.
On the sides of the road, I am found on the ground or maybe near a slimy swamp.
Insects are what I like to eat, I catch them with a WHOMP!
