The four little bikers

Article posted August 29, 2012 at 03:32 AM GMT • comment • Reads 67

My picture book reflection:
Bike Safety: To be safe on the roads me and my bike I learnt I had to know that there are five bike cheaks: Tyers need to be pump up, Chain needs to have oil, seat should not turn, pedddls turn round, breaks work.

Picture Book: I then had to use my understandings of bike safety and write a picture book story that included some aspects of bike safety.

Illustrations: I also had to learn about illustrations – I carried out a survey about illustrations in picture books.
I found out that. Some illustrations full the whole page some full the top or bottem and there is shoadow art collage and there is drawings.

I then learnt and practised some techniques for illustrating picture books and included some of these in my picture book such as shoadow art collage.

To make my picture book interactive, I embedded links within my story and finally I entered it into the Feet First competition.

Our school won a Highly Commended Certificate and some picture books for our Digital Journey Picture Book stories.

On Saturday I went to Hahei. I went to hot water beach and the water was really HOT. We had to build a big hole in the ground and a little trench so the hot water would full it up. It was so hot i had to go in the sea for a swim IN JUNE.

My Character Description

Article posted May 30, 2012 at 02:24 AM GMT • comment (1) • Reads 166

My Dad Andy

My dad has greeney, brownie eyes like the top of a green tree that sparkles in the sunlight. He’s got brown, short, spikey hair like a hedgehog. He’s as tall as an old shed.

His goal is to run and swim faster than me because his is lazy at times. He likes to eat McDonalds but unhealthy food as well. He hates broccoli and cauliflower. My dad likes to build things like a tree hut and play kitchen.

He drives to Tauranga every day and comes back at 6:00pm or 6:30pm. He works at Balance, that’s where he makes fertiliser.

My report on a Famous New Zealander

William Hamilton

Introduction

Sir William Hamilton was famous for engineering. His famous invention was the jet boat.

His Early Years

Sir William Hamilton’s nickname was Bill or Billy. Billy grew up on a farm, he was born 1899 in the South Island. He taught himself how to swim and dive and he made a raft out of oil drums and timber. He knew the dangers of rafting in the deep water. Later he built a canoe making the sails out of an old sheet using his mother’s sewing machine and the bit you sit on out of bamboo.

Engineering

He thought about how to make a boat which would come upstream and back again. Billy’s dream was to make a boat with a jet engine. But he invented a large rotary scoop for digging up heavy loads of earth.
By 1953 Billy had developed his most famous invention which was the jet propelled engine for a boat which is now called the Hamilton Jet Boat.
He had a factory which produced jet engines that were used all over the world for jet sprint boats, high speed ferries, custom patrols, ambulance and police patrol boats.

Sir William Hamilton made lots of inventions, his famous invention was the Jet Boat.

Cinderella said " Who are you?". " I am your Fairy Godmother. I am here to amke everything better"
So she made Cinderellla a blue beautiful dress with little shoes. " YOu must be home by midnight" said the Fairy Godmother.
She got to dance with teh Prince. Then the clock struck midnight.

SUperHeroes

Article posted February 5, 2012 at 03:38 AM GMT • comment • Reads 189

Suddenly I got a stripe of black face paint on. I was a baddy. Then a cold wind blew in the midnight air. I walked to the music as I went down the hall. All teh year fives and threes sang a song,"I need a Hero." Room 15did a great performance. I like room 15 because I iked the Batman because when they did that bit when they spread their hands out and move their fingers it was like magic. Our song was called "Freak Out" I had butterflies at first then I became as happy as a giggly person. It was great. when people cheeredand clapped. I wore a red sparkly, prickly top. My favourite production was ours and room 7's. WHen I got home I couldn't even move my feet.I was so hot ,probably because we sang and danced. It was cold outside but it was hot to me. There were six classes. At the end Bailey screamed in my and Adam's ears. The adults did a standing ovation. Mr Dempster said the clapping wasn't good enough, a standing ovation was better.
