Character Descriptions - In Collage, Writing and Voicethread
Here are our character collages and soon they will be linked with our student voices. The written descriptions will be posted on our personal pages as they are published.
Criteria for Our Character Studies:
Our writing task last week was to write character studies.
The criteria for the piece of writing included:
a) giving a physical description
b) describing your character's personality
c) including what he or she says
d) quoting what others say about him or her
e) describing what he or she does - hobbies, work, silly habits
We firstly read a story shaped in a similar fashion, planned then wrote each paragraph in turn. Willing authors shared their pieces in order to stimulate the thinking of others. Here are our finished studies.
Criteria for Our Character Collages:
We wanted some artwork to illustrate our character studies. Children could use photos as inspiration for their portraits, but most simply used their mind’s eye!
a) Make a 2 centimetre border around your page. b) Sketch the outline of head, shoulders, neck and hairline. c) Use old magazines to find batches of the appropriate color. d) Glue down small pieces of magazine – about 1.5 centimetres. Build up the background first, then the other areas. e) Find an appropriate set of eyes, a mouth and a nose!
