Fast Land Changes and Phases of the Moon

Article posted March 28, 2012 at 04:30 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 273

This month we have been busy creating 2 new Imovies, which we hope to upload to my webpage for all to see. The first movie for this month was to enhance reading for vocabulaty for our story The Moon Seems to Change. Students used the App Mooncast to capture screen shots of the different phases of the moon that went along with their reading vocabulary for the week. Next the students went to Safari and saved an image of the phases of the moon cycle. Once all images were captured they began to import their photos, and narrate the various stages of the moon. The next Imovie we are currently working on is Fast Land Changes. Each child is finding an image and a diagram of an earthquake, landslide, tsunami, volcano, hurricanes, tornadoes, thunderstorms, and floods on Safari. This time we have incorporated sound effects to go with each photo, and set our movie to replicate a News Report.

Solar System Research w/ the Ipad

For the past few weeks we have utilized several apps to research the planets in the solar system. The first app we used was the Notes page to record any information we obtained these past few weeks. Next we copied and pasted photos from Safari to create a Power Point with Keynote. Finally we were able to assess our knowledge of the Solar System by using the Socrative App. Next week will begin to use Movie Maker to add voice to our photos.
