WELCOME BACK To TERM 2

Article posted May 5, 2013 at 05:48 PM GMT+ 12 • comment • Reads 346

A big welcome back to Term 2.  What an amazing end to Term 1, with a very WET but very fantastic camp. We got to do most things in spite of the persistent rain. A BIG thanks to the incredible children on camp and to the amazing parents and teachers. we had a ball.

This term kicks off with lots happening.  We will have a student teacher with us for 8 weeks of this term. A big welcome to Miss Gregory and all the best for your practicum. Reports are underway and will be followed by achievement discussions. This is a time for the students to share with you all their great work and what their goals are for the rest of this term and year.

Netball, rugby and soccer kick off this term and I look forward to seeing the many students at least once in their sport over the term.

Our theme for this term is " THINK GLOBAL, ACT LOCAL" and involves investigating countires in North and South America and finding out things about them especially what they do with water shortages and the disposal of plastics.Following this we will  then relate it back to NZ and then Cambridge itself.

Call in any time and see what we are up to.   Whaea Margaret

WEEK 6 REPORT

Where did the other weeks vanish to? We have been really busy and have nearly completed our first reading project, and at present are reflecting on the strategies used and where to next.

Swimming has taken a lot of our time with the preparation for swimming sports and the developing of water safety skills. Thank you to all who took part on Friday evening.

CAMP- Health forms have now gone home . Thanks to those who have filled them out and returned them already. Please get the remainder in as soon as possible. Camp is coming up fast and there is a lot of paper work to it. Some children have sold over $180 in chocolates. Congratulations to those children who have made a difference to their camp fee with this amazing effort. The children have also had a gear list supplied. If it goes missing there is a copy in the Team Notices on the web site.

We have started on an art unit involving animals from legends and children have the option of working in pastel, paint or both. These are developing really well.

Until next time . Whaea Margaret

BUSY FRIDAYS

Our busy Fridays are in full swing with kapahaka for 45 mins, singing for 45 mins and orchestra and other options for an hour and a half on Friday mornings. The orchestra is sounding amazing already . It is good to see so many students involved.

The nursery garden has been producing beans, spinich, lettuce, silverbeet, cauli's to name a few of the vegetables. This year we are aiming to put in a better glass house some students are working out some fund raising projects.

Homework has kicked off and will be checked on Thursdays. Raz and Kaz are in Invercargill this week and then will be in GORE. for those who are following their journey. Please don't hesitate to call in if you are unsure what to do.

Cross grouping for maths started this week. Again call in or email if you have any queries.

Swimming is going really well. A big thanks to Alison who has been helping with supervision. It is much appreciated.

Until next week. Whaea Margaret
