I have been delayed posting many of the family projects from this school year. The students and their family members take the time to show their creative skills by completing a fun task. The results are always displayed in our First Grade hallway for all to enjoy.

Welcome Back to School Friends!
Today is our 9th day of school and I'm finally posting our first classroom blog of the school year. This is a picture of my new class.... all 22 of them. We have 9 boys and 13 girls.
We have been extremely busy learning our daily routine and jumping into our academic tasks. Today I showed them the class blog site and they chose their secret names which are now entered. I am anxious to see their upcoming blog entries and witness the progress they make this school year.
Dear first grade friends,
Last week we began working with the short a vowel pattern. This week we will continue the pattern with spelling words, word wall words and building word families. I am embedding one of the videos we watched in class so that you can sing it at home as well. I enjoyed your enthusiasm and participation. Have fun singing for your family!

Today is Move-Up Day. Each grade level from K-4 gets to move up a grade level this afternoon to meet next year's teacher.
My current students finished a FANTASTIC digital writing project in which they created a book highlighting some memories of their first grade year to share with the Kindergarten students coming to my room. I know my students loved making the book and watching the finished product. I think it was a great way for my first graders to showcase their writing, reading, and technology skills in one final assignment.
ENJOY!

I've been teaching first grade for the past seven years. My first career upon graduation was in the field of event planning.
I have a husband who teaches 9th grade English. We have a 3 year old daughter and 2 dogs whose names are Charlie and Cyrano.
