Wednesday we studied our school song. It is also in the gym and in our poetry journals. We made a recycling project today. We read a book about recycling and then we made leaves out of scrap book order paper. Then we traced and colored a leaf and cut it out. We did work stations all week! We also made apples to hang up in the room. Later today we are going to have our pictures taken. This week in math we learned about nickles and pennies. Yesterday we went outside to get leaves for our projects. We glued leaves onto paper and did some writing about them. Then we recorded ourselves.

Teacher Support is Looking for a Few Good Men and Women to Help with First Grade Lunch
With five first grades this year, we are looking for more volunteers to help in the cafeteria. Your assignment should you choose to accept would be helping children open milk cartons as well as containers from home, giving children ketchup, mustard and/or ranch dressing, helping children get into their jackets and winter outwear when the time comes.
It is a great way to see what your child does at lunch time and a wonderful way to support the staff that helps out in the lunchroom everyday.
If you are interested in this particularly exciting adventure, please contact Sue at samcam@tds.net or Susan at heysuet@juno.com.

Thanks in advance for your help, teachers!

Today we made pictures of a scarecrow using our faces. This week we started work stations. We made a number line counting by 5's and we used our hands. On Wednesday we read the Pledge of Allegiance. Last week we made some caterpillars just like Eric Carle. Last week we went to All School Share. We made a bridge for the kindergartners and the second graders. Our hands got really tired because we had to hold them up so long. There were a lot of kindergartners and second graders.

We are artists just like Eric Carle. On Monday we painted big artist paper with watercolor. On Friday we cut out circles to make a caterpillar. Then we added detail to our caterpillars using crayons, markers and pencils. We listened to Tooty-Ta. We are working on making a work station chart. We also added the days of the week to the Hungry Caterpillar's fruit. We made a graph of how many letters are in your name.
