Chapter 9-11 Blog C

Article posted February 2, 2010 at 08:24 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 648

Blog C, Which student created questions you would have liked to spend more time discussing and why? (2-3 sentences)
A question I would have liked to spend more time discussing is why she didn’t let her mom take care of her problems.
We agreed the reason is she didn’t want to be a momma’s girl or a wussy. Some others thought she didn’t want to give the bullies the satisfaction of knowing they had beaten her.

Blog B, What student created questions you group agreed upon? (4-5 sentences)
Our group agreed on the subject of do you think it help Jodee by being around people with problems like hers?
We agreed that it helped Jodee by being around people with problems like hers because she wasn’t scared to open up. She new that they all had problems and she wouldn’t be judged. They could tell their painful stories and have support. Another topic we agreed upon was do you think Jodee will be picked on as much now that she hangs out with Annie? We agreed that we didn’t think she would be picked on as much now because many people are scared of Annie and her tough looks. We thought it helped her having friends that she could be with and feel liked and cared about.
Part 2 Blog B, What student created questions that your group disagreed upon and justify? (4-5 sentences)
Our group disagreed upon the subject of why did Jodee want to learn Greek?
One person thought she wanted to go back to Greece some day and be able to impress her friends by speaking their native tongue. Another person thought she would write letters to keep in touch. My favorite out of all the ideas was that she wanted to accomplish something the kids at her school couldn’t take away. They might think she is weird for spending so much time trying to learn a new language but that is a step up from what they thought before.

Chapter 9-11 Blog A

Blog A, What student created questions in your group that generated the most discussion and justify? (4-5 sentences)
One topic of discussion was do you think Jodee’s trip to Greece helped her overcome bullying?
One student said yes, because she felt like there were more people than just the kids at her school. They also said they thought it gave her more confidence because she felt like she could be herself and some people would accept her. Another student said yes, because she new there were more mature people than she was currently surrounded by. It gave her hope and something to look forward to rather than just feeling stuck and not ever seeing and end. She finally felt like she wasn’t a deformed freak and that some others could finally see that.
We also discussed our thoughts and feelings about the incident in the locker room?
One student said they would have just sat in the locker room and cried. They said they wouldn’t have cared anymore. They would have given the bullies there satisfaction of letting them know they had beaten her. Another student said they would have been prepared and always had extra clothing. They said they would have learned from the past that people might taunt her by throwing her cloths in a toilet.

One responsibility I think is important is to vote. I think it is important because it is a way you can take part in your government. It is a way you can voice your opinion and let your representatives know who you want your states electoral votes to go to. If you don't vote you are saying I don't care what happens to my countries government.
To respect others rights is another responsibility I think is important. If you don’t respect others rights nothing will be solved. You have to work together to come up with better ideas than just one persons. You shouldn’t be closed minded. You have to be open to new ideas and welcome others opinion.
My last responsibility is to support your family. You should always be looking to help out your relatives. You can always just do little things like clean, make dinner, or wash the dishes. It doesn’t mean you have to go out and get part time jobs and give the pay check to your parents but just watching your little brother or sister can mean a lot to your parents.

Chapter 4 Blog

Article posted October 26, 2009 at 08:28 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 396

*What would you have done if you were at a party of this nature?
If I were at a party of the nature that Jodee attended I would have done one or two things. I either would have been participating in all of what was going on if someone asked me to. If no one asked me to I would have sat around somewhere and texted.
*How could Jodee have reacted differently which could have changed her outcome?
Jodde freaked out and called her mom. If Jodee would of sat there and not done anything the other kids wouldn't be in trouble. If the kids didn't get into trouble she wouldn't be shunned.
*Should Jodee be blamed for the punishmentthe students recieved from their parents?
If I were one of the kids who was in trouble because Jodee called her mom I wouldn't talk to her. She didn't have to call her mom. I don't think she should be beat up because of it but she still shouldn't of called her mom. I would blame her but not talking to her would be enough for me.
*How do you feel you would have been punished if you had been one of the students at this party?
My dad would tell me i shouldn't be doing things like that. My mom would be really mad and yell at me and not let me go anywhere except school for like a year. All ways to communicate with the outside world would be cut off.
*Do you feel the treatment Jodee's recieved from her classmates is fair?
I don't think the treatment Jodee recieved was fair. It would be ok if they didn't talk to her but beating her up is not ok.

Chapter 3 Response #2

One topic the created heavy debate was when Greg and Jo Ellen were told on by Jodee because they were tormenting the deaf kids. Jodee didn't want to be a tattle tale but the sister made her tell her. Some kids said a tattle tale is a tattle tale and they deserve what they get but some others thought you shouldn't outcast a person just because of one thing they did.

One thing i disagreed with my group about was if you would have transfered to a new school. I didnt think i would have transfer to a new school because I would be letting my self give up and run away. I think Jodee could of made some new friends and avoided the people who bullied her.

One topic my group agreed on was if our friends wanted us to help them egg an elderly persons house we would of done what. We all agreed that we would do it so our friends would think we are cool. After we were done we would say we better get home because we have a curfew. After our friends left we would go to the old persons house and say we saw some kids egging their house and offer to help them clean it up.

Chapter 3 Blog Response #1

"It was eighther shun or be shunned. The meaner you were to the "rejects" the more popular you became with members of your clique."

I think this quote means that to become more popular you have to be a bully and hurt others.
I think this happens a lot in life because people hurt others to make themselves feel bigger.

I do not agree with this quote because you shouldn't make others feel pain for no reason. To make others like you you dont have to bully people. Practical jokes are funny and others feelings aren't hurt. You should stand up for people who are being made fun of and lots of times if you just take the joke and dont react or just laugh it off people will stop making fun of you.

One time in fith grade we had a new kid named Kevin. He thought he was the best at everything, self centered, annoying, and braged a lot. Everyone in the class got very tired of hearing him talk on and on about himself and was very quickly ruled a reject. At recess he was beat up and called names and it almost became a game to see who could be the meanest to him. He was almost brought to tears everyday by nearly the whole class. After sixth grade he moved to a new school.

If you are good at something you shouldn't fail at it to be cool. You should excel at it and not care what others think.
"April is the child of the Social Teacher, she is a good student, excels in sports, and is a hard worker."
April might be made fun of for being a good student too. If she is an athlete she pobably hangs out with the more popular crowd and she could be scared to lose her friends if they find out she is good at school too. If they are real friends they will like her for who she is and not care that she is a good student.

“If you’re good at something the popular crowd deems “uncool” ,you are sunk.”
I think this happens a lot but I don’t think it is right. Some people are really good at subjects in school and if the teacher is asking questions during class and you know the answer you might be scared that you will be made fun of if you answer. You shouldn’t be scared to show you are good at something. If someone makes fun of you for being good at something they are really just jealous.
I have this friend Josh. At practice some of the older guys started picking on him. It made him really mad and he didn’t know why they were doing it. At lunch one day they even threatened to gang up on him. He told a teacher the problem and he told the other boys to stop or else they would be in trouble and that fixed the problem.
In life I think this mainly happens when kids are really smart and still want to be friends with the popular crowd. Sometimes the smart kids are the popular crowd but other time the kids that aren’t such a good influence are. If a group isn’t willing to accept you for who you are you shouldn’t change yourself to fit in.

I'd rate my summer as a 7. My summer was fun but i've had better. One fun thing was when we went to Worlds of Fun and did the rip cord and rode almost every ride. We also went to Minnesota and spent a week with my entire family at my grandmothers lake house. We spent hours doing water sports such as skiing, tubing, and hotdoging. I no right your woundering what hotdoging is. It is a huge tube shaped like a hotdog and u sit on it and hang on for dear life. It is pretty scary when your parents think it is funny to watch you fly off but it hurts.
