Why oil is dangerous to animals by Darius

Article posted March 22, 2013 at 12:24 PM GMT+11 • comment (2) • Reads 418

Today we did a feather and oil experiment.
We had cold water, hot water, soapy water and room temputure water.
I had one of the three types of feathers.
We dunked them in oil and tried to rinse it out in the waters but the oil didn't come out.
After a while it came out I put it some water and it separated the individual parts of the feather.
Then I put it in some hot water and it went back to normal.
It was fun predicting how it would work.
The picture below, shows the effects of oil on seabirds. Oil kills!

At 10.00 o'clock in the morning I went Whale watching with my family. While we were in the middle of the ocean all these whales put a show on for us.
Suddenly this big blue whale jumped out and when it landed it splashed on everyone that was watching it.I asked nicely if I could go swimming with the whales. The man said "yes".I jumped in and alll of a sudden I opened my eyes and all these whales were crowding the boat.I went swimming just to get a closer look at what the blue whale looks like. It's big and blue, its heart is the size of a car,it weighs 100-130 tones and the size of it is 26-30m.The tail is 4.5m and the last thing is when the whale blows it blows up to 6-10m high.We got back to shore and I went back home and told my friends about my exciting day with the whales!

Article posted March 22, 2013 at 07:07 AM GMT+11 • comment (2) • Reads 87

One morning I was walking along the beach and I heard crying whales.I could see suffering whales.SoI walked where the noise was coming from.I felt sad, horrified, scared and upset.I could see dead whales, heaps of people and suffering. I could hear water, boats coming in,air coming out of the whales blow hole.I went up to one of the whales and said ''Iam sorry young one for you and your family".The whale started crying. It made me cry.Its skin felt so smooth. Then I saw blood. That made my cry even more. Please Do NOT LITTER please I am begging you. Our litter, especially PLASTIC is killing our marine animals.
