Have you ever dissected the heart before? I have and it’s very cool. A couple of days ago our class dissected the heart and lungs in our classroom. We are learning about the circulatory system, and the heart is part of it.

We placed a plastic cover on the table we were going to dissect the heart on, and then the dissection started. Ms Salem, who demonstrated the dissection to the student got a heart and from lungs from a sheep. Then she blew into the trachea, and the lungs inflated a little not a lot, because there was a puncture in the trachea, so the air leaked out. Then came the interesting part Ms Salem cut through the fatty tissue and out slid the heart it was the coolest thing ever. The heart was light red and dry. Ms Salem let us stick our finger in the aorta. The aorta is the biggest vessel in the body. She then cut the heart and we saw the inside chambers, and strings that are in the heart called cordetas. They are very hard and make a guitar sound if you play them with your nails. Ms Salem sliced the lungs in half the inside of the lungs was so cool.

Other people thought that it was disgusting and it smelled bad, but I thought it was normal. Other people thought it was very cool.

I really enjoyed the dissection. It was very cool and I can’t wait till we dissect the brain. I will not become a doctor however because I don’t learning about the body.

Grade 5 is awesome! There are so many cool things you get to do!!!! This time it was dissecting a sheep’s heart!! Mrs. Salem dissected the heart and lungs for us as part of wrapping up our unit on the circulatory system.

I loved touching the heart, turns out it’s not as gooey as you think. It actually is hard, because it is a muscle. It was also fun seeing Mrs. Salem blow into the trachea which leads to the lungs inflated and deflated. Then she cut some of the fatty tissue surrounding the heart it just slipped out. She showed us the heart we got to touch it, and put our finger in the aorta, it I s big enough to put your entire finger inside.
I put my finger in, it was like touching pasta! Then there came the BEST part of all. Dissecting the hearts by ourselves! Well, in groups. I was with Maurice, Mahmoud, and Alaa. I got to cut through the septum and cut the cordites. Turns out the valves are tiny=http://!!!

It was great! Except for maybe the smell it was bad. It smelled like blood and hospitals and raw meat!!!!Other than that, it was amazing. Some of my classmates were disgusted, but I was not.
That experiment just made want to be a doctor even more. So what if I have to study 12 extra years? It is worth it=http://!!

AA -- The Heart Dissection

My class and I were learning about the circulatory system, which is system is a system that is in your body and your heart and lungs are a part of it, so we dissected them, and let me tell you, it’s not disgusting.

First, Miss Salem came to our class to show us how to dissect the heart, she showed us how to cut open the heart very carefully and let us touch the inside and put our finger in the aorta (I have to tell you it felt like pasta)! She also cut open the lungs and showed us where the oxygen comes in.  After Miss Salem left, we got to dissect the heart ourselves!

It was so fun! Did you know the heart has 4 chambers (I knew that already)? We got to see the valves, septum, arteries, and the cordettas. If you pull on one it makes a noise like “TING!” The only thing I didn’t like was the de-oxygenated blood, it was dark blue and would stick together and it was so gooey!

Dissecting the heart was fun, I wish we could do it again, but we weren’t playing around, we were learning while having fun! For once, learning was fun.

Do you think dissecting the heart might be gross? Well your wrong. A couple of days ago, we started with a unit of the circulatory system with the heart blood and blood vessels. We were in class when a teacher, Mrs. Salem came with a bag. And right now was the end of this unit so it wasn’t a surprise for the heart to be there. There was recess right now so we had to wait until the dissection.

Have you ever dissected a heart before?

A couple of days ago, my class and I were dissecting the heart and lungs. We were dissecting it because we were learning about the circulatory system 03/28 -->

Students observed the dissection of the heart and lungs of a sheep, and dissected a sheep heart, as part of the science unit on the circulatory/cardiovascular system. Ms. Salem conducted the dissection.

You may think it’s disgusting, but I thought it was really cool! Some time ago, my teacher thought that it was time to dissect a heart since we had finished studying about the circulatory system. Mrs. Salem, a fifth grade teacher, came to our class and brought in the heart and lungs of a sheep, and she demonstrated how to dissect them!

At first I thought the dissection was really gross, but when I actually waited and saw the rest, it was the coolest thing I had ever seen in my whole life! Every time she opened up something like the heart or the lungs, she would pass it around, and we got to touch it! Like when she opened the heart, we saw what was inside and we saw some veins, and when she opened up the lungs, we saw the vessels and we got to touch them, they were really hard! During the dissection of the lungs, Mrs. Salem showed us how our lungs work. So she got the lungs and blew through the trachea, and suddenly, the lungs inflated! She tried it another time, she blew, and this time they inflated even more!!! Everybody started saying “wow!”and “cool!” I thought that was the best part, but in came the afternoon, when we got back from recess, and there were more hearts on the table! Miss Noshie placed us each in groups of four, and each group got one heart, some gloves, and scissors too because this time, we were going to do the dissection.

What I really hated was when we dissected in groups, because we actually got to do the dissecting, and we saw all the parts, we even had to cut some veins and codettas! What I thought was really disgusting, was when Miss Noshie got the scissors and took out all the de-oxygenated blood. It looked like black jello, even worse, black slime! It was so sticky and disgusting, but still I thought it was kind of cool. The last thing I thought was really something not cool was the smell. I really thought that the heart smelled horridness and really stinky, especially the blood!

I really thought the dissection was cool; I can’t wait to dissect the brain! I think it would be way cooler since its one of the most important organ in our body. But I don’t want to be a doctor because I have to do dissect things that I really don’t want to see!

Students observed the dissection of the heart and lungs of a sheep, and dissected a sheep heart, as part of the science unit on the circulatory/cardiovascular system. Ms. Salem conducted the dissection.
Have you ever seen the inside of a sheep? A couple of days ago my classmates and I dissected a heart. Mrs. Salem dissected a heart for us in our classroom because we are studying about the circulatory system.
When Mrs. Salem pulled out a sheep’s lungs and the heart from a plastic bag, it wasn’t like what I imagined. I imagined the heart and the lungs to be bigger. Between the two lungs were the heart and two tubes projecting from the lungs. Then she blew into one of the tube; it is called a trachea. The lungs then inflated like a balloon you blow into. I was amazed!! Mrs. Salem then separated the heart from the lungs with a knife. The heart was the size of a fist. I watched her as she cut open the heart. First I saw the aorta, then the Inferior Vena Cavae and the Superior Vena Cavae, and then all of the parts of the heart began to show. Inside the ventricles and the atrium were these little strings called cordetas. It was a mesmerizing sight.
When we dissected the heart ourselves, I was disgusted because I had to cut and touch the heart. When I put my fingers into the aorta I was disgusted by how it felt, it felt like slimy slugs. Fortunately, we wore gloves so it wasn’t that sickening. Once I got used to the feeling, I began touching and putting my fingers in the Superior Vena Cavae and Inferior Vena Cavae, wincing a little.
This was my first dissection and it was mesmerizing, amazing, and revolting all at once. I thought it was cool so I decided that I wanted to become a doctor because even though it was pretty disgusting it was cool and I like science.

The Dissection of the Heart

Students observed the dissection of the heart and lungs of a sheep, and dissected a sheep heart, as part of the science unit on the circulatory/cardiovascular system. Ms. Salem conducted the dissection.  This is a piece of writing that was conference twice with her

How does the heart feel like? Ever wondered what are the lungs like? How do you blow through the lungs? How is the heart shaped? How are the lungs shaped like? We dissected a sheep’s heart in class couple of days ago Miss Salem dissected it we were studying about Circulatory System.

When we saw plastic covers on the table, we knew that Mrs. Salem was going to dissect the heart .Mrs. Salem is the teacher next door she dissect the heart because she knows how to open it and stuff. I was so elated! I wondered what the heart would look like.Mrs. Salem came to our class and the dissection started Mrs. Salem blew into the trachea and the lungs inflated while she was blowing. It was so cool! Then she took the heart out. It was bloody and she let us touch the parts of the heart and feel them .When I touched the aorta (the biggest vessel) it felt slimy then she let us touch the cordetas (they are like strings.)They make small noises .After a bit the dissection was done.Mrs. Noshie told us “you’re going to dissect hearts in yourself. It was like the best day ever..I was with Suh-hye, Ghazi and Jeremy. We had so much fun on squeezing the heart.

In the dissection with Mrs. Salem my friend though it was awesome but I thought it was sick to be honest when Mrs. Salem opened the heart, it was soo disgusting there was blood coming out . But we did have fun.

Next we are studying about the brain It was the best dissection ever I hope we will dissect the brain.

Students observed the dissection of the heart and lungs of a sheep, and dissected a sheep heart, as part of the science unit on the circulatory/cardiovascular system. Ms. Salem conducted the dissection.

It was a couple of days ago, when Mrs. Salem was dissected a heart. The whole operation was to show us how to do it and because we were learning about circulatory system.

It was really fun, because we also did it ourselves, the heart was very bloody. It was really cool because we got to see how the heart looks like from the inside. When the teacher cut open the lungs we got to feel the tubes that run through it. And we got to put our finger in the aorta. Mrs. Salem did all sorts of cool things, like when she blew in the trachea and then the lungs inflated.

But there were some gross things, like how the heart smells, because it smells like a dead sheep. The heart and the lungs looked liked when they were wrapped In the cellophane. What was also really disgusting is when we had to dissect the heart because it was really bloody and slimy.

I hope you will get a chance to dissect a heart. And it will encourage you to become a doctor or a heart surgeon.

The Dissection of the Heart

Doing dissections of parts in the human body is gross, but when you really see it, it will absolutely amaze you to know what happens inside your body. A dissection took place in my classroom a couple of days ago because we are studying about the circulatory system and the parts of it.

04/1 -->

The Dissection of the Heart

You might think that dissecting a heart and lungs is disgusting, and you are right, it is, a bit. But it is also mostly cool. Imagine doing it, you could tell people that you actually dissected them. You shouldn’t be too disgusted about it because you have them in your body right now while you read this story.
