With bad grades inside

Waiting to be read.

A bouncy soccer ball

Shot by a player

Into the open goal of the opposing team

A full pencil case

With colorful pencils

Waiting to be opened by me

 A blunt pencil

In the hands of a human

Hoping to be sharpened

So much depends upon

A soccer player

With the ball

Near the goal, hoping to score.

           Goalie

So much depends upon

A sweating goalie

Wanting to block the penalty

Wanting to help his team.

Dirty Shoe

So much depends upon

A dirty shoe

Under the table

Waiting to be polished

So much depends upon

A crumbled paper

Rolling down the street

Thrown by someone who wants to pollute.

Recess

Article posted March 3, 2011 at 05:07 AM GMT0 • comment • Reads 728

I am a fifth grader and I want to explain how it is up at the roof.

First of all, the fifth grade building is really far from the roof, so on our way many people are bunching up and not talking or whispering, but almost shouting. When we are right next to the door, we get stopped and sometimes were 10 minutes late! When we enter, some people want to play soccer straight away, and some people are just fooling around playing soccer with basketballs. And when we play, it’s mostly cheating and fouling.  At the end of recess we are supposed to line up in front of the door. A teacher that always comes for recess duty for 5th grade lets 5A and 5B go first. Followed by us, 5C and 5D. The thing that bothers me is that 5A and 5B are bunched up, talking, and playing. AND THEY GO FIRST!!! We, class 5C are the quietest class and just because we are a class “C” we go before last; it is all not fair. Even 5A admit that 5C deserves to, MOST of the time; not all, be first, or at least before first. And we have to wait at the top of the stairs even though it’s not us talking; it’s either 3rd grade or the class behind us. Let’s just go back to last month, February’s virtue of fairness. It is mostly unfair up at the roof.

Staying in Mrs. Noshie’s Class While My Classmates Went to Ramlieh.

As I hope you know, I don’t like sleeping in strange places without my family. I never went to Faqra in grades 3 and 4, and didn’t sleep in Deir el Qamar in 5th grade, and now my classmates went to Ramlieh. Look, I would’ve gone to Ramlieh if they were going to go for the whole day but not slept there!

On the note, it said that if I didn’t want to go to Ramlieh, we had to go to class 5A or 5B. I was used to that, because last time that happened when my classmates went to Deir el Qamar. I chose class 5A (like last time).

Article posted December 9, 2010 at 08:14 AM GMT0 • comment • Reads 921

Facts we learned about the Cardiovascular System

·         The heart has four chambers, the left and right atrium and the left and right ventricle.

·         Deoxygenated blood –dirty blood.

·         Oxygenated blood-rich blood.

·         The left atrium receives oxygenated blood from the lungs through the pulmonary vein.

·         The left atrium contracts causing the mitral valve to open sending the blood to the left ventricle.

·         The left ventricle contracts sending the blood all over the body through the aorta.

·         The aorta is the largest artery in our body.

·         The Septum is a thick muscle that separates the right chamber from the left chamber.

·         The right atrium receives deoxygenated blood from the body through the Superior and Inferior Vena Cava

·         The right atrium contracts causing the tricuspid valve to open sending the blood to the right ventricle.

·         The right ventricle contracts sending the blood to the lungs through the Pulmonary artery so you could exhale it.

·         The dietitian informed us to eat fish because it has omega 3.

·         Veins carry deoxygenated blood.

·         Arteries carry oxygenated blood.

·           The esophagus carries food.

·         The windpipe/Trachea carries O2.

·         The heart is the only muscle that never stops working.

·         The different chambers work simultaneously in the heart.

·         Fiber stops your arteries from clogging.

·         Exercising brings up your HDL that burns your LDL.

·         There are three different types of blood vessels, arteries, capillaries, and veins.

·          We could have half a chocolate bar every day, and not on a daily basis.

·         The left ventricle is the strongest chamber in your heart.

·         Capillaries connect arteries and veins.

·         Platelets clog your cuts so you don’t bleed to death.

Our Visitors

Reflection of What we Learned from our Visitors-Miss Jeanette Karam and Dr. Antoine Abchee

When our two visitors came, I learned so many facts about the heart and what is healthy for us. Early in the morning, our dietitian, Jeanette Karam came to speak about what is healthy, I learned many interesting facts that I told to my dad and mom just when I left school. She put a basket of fruits and some vegetables for us to eat. She said that we should eat fruits and exercise on a daily basis- which I don’t do. Later in the afternoon, our cardiologist Dr. Antoine Abchee came and told us about the heart. He brought a model of the heart and told us stories and things that could happen / happened about the heart. We asked him questions and he answered them. I learned so many things, and I decided to exercise, eat fruits every day and never to smoke or drink alcohol.

I Made a Mistake

I Made a Mistake

I went to the zoo to see a wild boar,

I made a mistake… and opened the door.

I went to the library to get a book,

I made a mistake…and got hanged on a hook.

I went to Italy to go to the museum,

I made a mistake…and entered the Colloseum.

I went to Hamra to go to a shop,

I made a mistake…and got swept by a mop.

The world beyond

Article posted February 23, 2009 at 03:20 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 887

Questions and answers:

How many moons does Saturn have?
60!

Is there proof that aliens are real?
Not a lot, because many probes visited many planets without finding aliens.

Does Mars have life?
Maybe.

Is there a planet that has life?
Yes. It is from another solar system. It is called ‘’Gliese’’.
————————————————————————
Copernicus and his belief:

A long time ago, people used to think that the sun, moon and the planets go around the earth.
Copernicus, said that the earth, moon and planets go around the
Sun. No one believed him. Because he thought that, they killed
Him. Galileo believed him. So, he went to prison. Now everyone believes him. I said this: I will prove that Copernicus was right… and Galileo AND Einstein.
