Grade 3A students would like to share the information that was provided by the New York Zoos and Aquarium website about their “wild self” animal characteristics. Each child designed his/her wild self and has taken that name as their Class Blogmeister user name. Welcome to the world of blogging!

African Lion mane - Looking good! Male African lions use their thick, dark manes to attract mates.
Fennec fox ears - Fennec foxes are the smallest of all canines but have the largest ears for their size. Your Fennec fox ears not only help you hear better, they'll help you get rid of extra body heat to keep cool in the hot African desert.
Fossa Snout - Even though you have fearsome fossa teeth and look like cat, you're actually a relative of the mongoose family and unique to the forests of Madagascar.
Gibbon arms - Your Gibbon arms are designed especially for swinging in trees. With these arms you can jump distances of over 20 feet from branch to branch.
Chilean flamingo legs - ou'd think flamingos stand on one leg by locking their knees. But those are actually their ankles. They stand like that to conserve energy. How long can you stand on one leg?
Rodrigues bat wings - Your Rodrigues bat wings are very different from bird wings. Bird wings are made like human arm bones. But your bat wings are more like really long fingers. Creepy long fingers!
Peacock male tail - Your peacock tail feathers can grow to be 60 inches long. Each feather has what looks like an eye on it. They help scare away other animals that might want to eat you.
