So Much Depends Upon

Article posted March 8, 2011 at 06:52 AM GMT0 • comment • Reads 755

Mommy

So much depends upon,

My beautiful mom,

Full of  love,

Waiting for me to kiss her.

Glue Stick

So much depends upon,

A sticky glue stick,

Stuffed with sticky glue,

Waiting to be dragged on a paper.

Money

So much depends upon,

A piece of clean money,

Squished in my wallet,

Waiting to be exchanged.

Pencil Case

So much depends upon,

A full pencil case,

With colorful pencils,

Waiting to be opened by me.

So much depends upon,

A summative with hard words,

Waiting to be graded by my teacher,

And read by me and my parents.

Recess

Recess

Recess is very fun and I always play soccer and have a lot of fun. But when it comes to lining up all the rules are getting mixed up and there will be people lining up in the basketball court and people are lining up in front of the entrance to the roof and the kids are disagreeing with the teachers and the teachers are disagreeing with the kids so we are going to class 5 to 7 minutes late and for some reason my class is coming the last out of all the classes. I think that we should start on lining up all in the same place.

Cardiovascular System Facts

Article posted December 9, 2010 at 08:22 AM GMT0 • comment • Reads 889

·         The heart has four chambers, the left and right atrium and the left and right ventricle.

·         Deoxygenated blood –dirty blood.

·         Oxygenated blood-rich blood.

·         The left atrium receives oxygenated blood from the lungs through the pulmonary vein.

·         The left atrium contracts causing the mitral valve to open sending the blood to the left ventricle.

·         The left ventricle contracts sending the blood all over the body through the aorta.

·         The aorta is the largest artery in our body.

·         The Septum is a thick muscle that separates the right chamber from the left chamber.

·         The right atrium receives deoxygenated blood from the body through the Superior and Inferior Vena Cava

·         The right atrium contracts causing the tricuspid valve to open sending the blood to the right ventricle.

·         The right ventricle contracts sending the blood to the lungs through the Pulmonary artery so you could exhale it.

·         The dietitian informed us to eat fish because it has omega 3.

·         Veins carry deoxygenated blood.

·         Arteries carry oxygenated blood.

·           The esophagus carries food.

·         The windpipe/Trachea carries O2.

·         The heart is the only muscle that never stops working.

·         The different chambers work simultaneously in the heart.

·         Fiber stops your arteries from clogging.

·         Exercising brings up your HDL that burns your LDL.

·         There are three different types of blood vessels, arteries, capillaries, and veins.

·          We could have half a chocolate bar every day, and not on a daily basis.

·         The left ventricle is the strongest chamber in your heart.

·         Capillaries connect arteries and veins.

·         Platelets clog your cuts so you don’t bleed to death.

The Visitors

Article posted November 23, 2010 at 07:11 AM GMT0 • comment • Reads 929

I learned a lot from our first and second visitors. I’m going to talk about the first visitor because she came in first her name was Miss Jeanette Karam, she was a dietitian she spoke about stuff that I really never knew about. The first thing was that I hadn’t been eating fruits and she said that the fiber can stop your arteries from clogging, she also said that brown sugar was better  than white sugar I thought the exact opposite! She said that boiled vegetables are worse but still good than not boiled not cooked and not fried vegetables because when they get baked all the fiber and the anti-oxidants witch make your arteries stop clogging and the vitamin C out of the vegetable. Our second visitor witch name was

Our second visitor is called Dr.Antoine Abchee he was a cardiologist he spoke about the heart and many different types of heart problems he spoke a kind of machine called a defibulator that can make your heart to continue pumping. He spoke about a patient he had that was thirteen years old and lost his life from his arteries clogging. I never knew that all of the fast food restaurants like Burger King and KFC use the waste of the chicken and meat to make the disgusting fake chicken to persuade people to eat but that doesn’t mean that you can’t eat it you could eat it but once in a blue moon. He also talked about cigarettes that when you inhale the smoke you are mixing chemicals and forming a sticky substance called Tar it sticks to your lungs and it makes you be breathing toughly. When one or two people smoking in the same room you’re in your smoking with them. Smoking makes your heart turn black and your lungs turn black also and of course he said that smoking is really bad for everyone. I thank them for coming to our class during their free time I thank them a lot!

I Am a Wild One

Article posted October 17, 2008 at 10:49 AM GMT0 • comment (9) • Reads 591

Grade 3A students would like to share the information that was provided by the New York Zoos and Aquarium website about their “wild self” animal characteristics. Each child designed his/her wild self and has taken that name as their Class Blogmeister user name. Welcome to the world of blogging!

D.J1

Bison horns - Your bison horns, unlike deer and elk antlers, are made of a substance similar to hair. They are also slow-growing and permanent. They grow in yearly "rings" which indicate age.

Asian elephant ears - Do bigger ears mean better hearing? In this case, yes. Your Asian elephant ears can hear other elephants miles away by feeling for vibrations.

Red Ruffed Lemur Arms - Your name comes from the rusty red color of your woolly body fur. It's so soft that females use it to pad nests for their young.

Rodrigues bat wings - Your Rodrigues bat wings are very different from bird wings. Bird wings are made like human arm bones. But your bat wings are more like really long fingers. Creepy long fingers!

Madagascar Tree Boa Tail - Despite the name, Tree Boas spend most of their time on the ground. They only go into trees when there's a storm or if they're hunting for food.
