We are an intermediate classroom in an elementary school in British Columbia, Canada. We use our blogs as a place to practise expressing our ideas in writing (and maybe even sound, pictures & video when we're ready). We try to leave thoughtful comments for classmates & other bloggers we visit. Comments help us critique our ideas and our writing. They also motivate us to do more thinking, writing, sharing & revising.
You can leave your thoughts on any particular article by clicking "comment" below it. Comments will be published after I have had a chance to read them.

The Greenhouse Effect

Lately in science class we have been learning about the greenhouse effect and what it is. The greenhouse effect is greenhouse gases going into the atmosphere. It is important that people can understand that this issue is serious because if we don’t control the greenhouse effect it will harm us. One greenhouse gas is carbon dioxide. Carbon dioxide is a major greenhouse gas. When the greenhouse gases go in the atmosphere, they absorb the heat from the sun and it keeps humans warm. But, when we drive cars and fly planes it makes an increased greenhouse effect. The greenhouse effect is important, without it the Earth would not be warm enough for humans to live. But if the greenhouse effect becomes stronger, it would make the Earth warmer than usual. A little extra warming may cause problems for humans, plants, animals.
My Action Plan
One of my 7 action plans is to ask my parents if they can carpool. 2 people riding in one car is better than 2 people riding in separate cars. My second action plan is to turn off the lights, television, and computer when I am done using them. My third plan is to plant trees. Trees absorb carbon dioxide, a greenhouse gas. My fourth plan is to save energy by walking, riding a bike, or take the bus to wherever I’m going. Action Plan # 5 is to recycle cans, plastics, bottles, and newspapers. My sixth plan is to buy products that use less energy. My 7th and final plan is to get electricity from solar energy.

The issue that I choose is, “Sea level rise due to global warming.” The reason I choose this issue is because if the sea levels keep rising there will be lots of floods and people will have to leave there homes for shelter. I think people should do a little more to try to prevent the sea level from rising up. This issue is important to me and lots of other people. ¾of planet Earth is covered in water so if the sea level rises too much it’ll probably flood the whole Earth.

I think Cole is ok because he is not angry anymore. Cole is not blaming others anymore. His body is healing and his mind is diffrent.I think when Cole soaks in the pond and when he climbs the hill and rolles the ancestor rock down the hill calms him down.

The people that I admire are my parents I feel
safe when I am around them. My parents are cool the buy me lots of stuff. They usually don’t get mad because they are calm. My parents love to have fun but when they need to be strict they will be strict. The reason choose them is because they are great people. They are really nice people. They help me with every thing including my homework. I look up to them every day, they understand every thing. They are also really reasonable with a lot of things.

A few days ago I read a book by Pam Withers. It was titled, “Skater stunt boys”. It was about two fifteen year old boys named Jake and peter who got jobs as stunt boys in a movie. The boys were really happy but their jobs just became trouble. Their boss was really mean to them and they got little pay. There are also three other people who had jobs as stunt boys. Every one of them was fighting to be #1.I recommend this book to anyone who likes skateboarding and action.

Today was a historic day in USA and the whole world because there is the first African-American president. The Inauguration was great; we got to watch the Inauguration in our classroom. Everybody who was in our class was happy. His speech was heart-warming it made every happy. We were just happy because he became the 44th president of the United States of America. We could see the change in the world. I was happy, my classmates were happy, the teacher was happy, the whole world was happy.
Everybody knew it was Dr. Martin Luther King’s speech that inspired everyone.

Vancouver Giants
Today our class met the Vancouver Giants. They were talking to us about read to succeed. On the read to succeed passport it says to read for fourteen days. The Vancouver Giants said that they will be coming back in two weeks to see how we are doing. If we read everyday for at least fifteen to thirty minutes we get to go see a Vancouver Giants game. They also said their players get free collage education for a year. When they were done talking we got to ask them questions. We had a great time meeting the Vancouver Giants.

Why would people kick people with red hair? Just because it was in a television show does not mean people have to do it. I feel angry, mad, and sad. People have to learn not be prejudice toward redheads.
In Prince Rupert, a secondary school teacher said her younger brother got kicked in the groin several times. Tulani Ackerman’s son felt so unsafe to his school without someone with him.
Tulani Ackerman’s class decided to dye there hair red on Thursday November 27.people should know redheads are people too.

It was Halloween and the three brothers Yannick, Jerard, and Matthew went trick o treating .When they were finished they went home. The three brothers lived in a mansion. There house had 24 bedrooms, 12 bathrooms, 7 kitchens, and 5 living rooms. The house was very house old. The boys loved Halloween; they loved scaring people and even getting scared. When they went to sleep in there rooms they heard a loud noise in the basement and they were scared. They left there rooms to see what it was. When they reached the basement they all saw something fly past, and they were even more scared. After they heard footsteps behind them, they got closer and closer then they finally saw someone. It was an old man who said he was fixing the basement. When they left they said they thought he was a ghost. Matthew opened the door again and the old man wasn’t there. They went back upstairs to sleep. The next day they went to the basement and it was a mess there were pieces on white paper in the floor and there was a little bit of blood on the walls. Later that night they saw the same old man and Yannick asked him, “Are you a ghost”, and he said maybe. They were really scared. The man said, “I am not a ghost but used to be the owner of this house. I got kicked out 2 years ago. Yannick, Jerard , and Matthew left the room and they said to themselves, “Were lucky he is not a ghost” When they opened the door he was not there and they saw blood all over the wall and ran back to there rooms and they were screaming.
The end

I think your right, sometimes playing video games is a waste of time and it would be better to do something educational. But some games can be educational like superstruct, free rice , and chore wars. Sometimes I feel like when I play a game I gained nothing but know I feel encoureged to play games but only educational games. In conclusion , playing games could be a good thing and it can also be a bad thing.
