Maggie Come Lately by Michelle Buckman This is one of my favorite books about teenage faith. Maggie had a tough childhood because of her mother’s suicide when she was 3. She has had to become a mother to her younger brothers all her life. After her sixteenth birthday, things start to change around her house. Her father brings home a girlfriend, her youngest brother is acting frightened, a dog is found mutilated in the woods and she finds her classmate raped, beaten and left for dead. She wants desperately to fit in with the popular crowd until she becomes popular and decides it’s not what she thought it would be. Can she hold fast to her values?
