Analysis

Article posted May 27, 2009 at 01:01 PM GMT-5 • comment (1) • Reads 321

We are at the point of the year in 7th grade that we are doing a roadkill project. For many years the 7th grade has been marking down the roadkill, where it was seen, its surroundings, the date, and the animal. Then after 6 weeks we stop taking the roadkill we see and we start the project. For the project we all choose a topic that has to do with roadkill and we make a graph, plan it out, write a summary, etc. I chose to do the endangered animals killed. I was going to see if the amount of endangered animals had a higher amount of roadkill or less. My hypothesis was that there was going to be less because there is a less population. But I found out that there are no endangered animals on our roadkill data so I had to switch my topic. My teacher suggested I do something with frogs and snakes because no one has ever done that before and she thought it would be interesting. Also I thought frogs and snakes would be interesting because we are doing the roadkill in spring and there population should be higher.

While I was taking down the data in the chart I discovered that the frogs had a lot higher roadkill than the snakes. I thought why that was. One thing I thought of was that frogs are seen way more than snakes so snakes are seen less on the road. There for, there will be less found dead. Since we do the roadkill in the spring there is more population for those types of amphibians, so it was a good time to take down the data.

After I took down the data in the chart I found that I was correct with my hypothesis! That frogs would have a higher amount of roadkill than snakes. There were many factors to my project, such as the surroundings, like if there were swamp around the road or grassy fields or forests. Also the amount of cars on the road will affect the amount of roadkill because our world is changing the way they do things or going green so there might be starting the less amount of roadkill on the road. I don’t think that there was any errors with my data because it was not that difficult, I went on line, took down the data, then made a graph, so there was not much to go wrong.

If I were to do this project again next year I would predict things differently. Since our planet is becoming greener I would say that there will be less and less roadkill on the road. But over all If I were to do this project again I would still have predicted my same hypothesis, that frogs would have a higher amount of roadkill.

Shoe Advertisment

Article posted May 13, 2009 at 10:35 AM GMT-5 • comment • Reads 434

This is a Project that we did in art class. We had to design a shoe out of clay and pant it. Then there was another part to the project, it was that we had to photo shop a advertisement for it and had to come up with a company name and name for the shoe. We also had to come up with a slogan for the company/shoe.

Acid Rain

Article posted May 8, 2009 at 02:38 PM GMT-5 • comment • Reads 388

This is my acid rain poster. It showes how acid rain is made and how it effects things around us. The 2 pollutions is NO2 and SO2, they come from factories and cars. Once the pollution hits the moisture it turns into the acid rain. There are many ways to stop acid rain, such as riding your bike or taking the and not taking your car.

Roadkill Graph

Article posted May 8, 2009 at 09:02 AM GMT-5 • comment • Reads 404

This is a graph of the amount of roadkill found in the Rye and New Castle area. We found that the gray Squirrel was the highest amount of road kill found. There were many animals that were only found once like the mink and the deer. I found that it was very unusual that 3 frogs were found in the last week and no other week when we were counting the roadkill.

Antarctica Flag

Article posted May 6, 2009 at 12:38 PM GMT-5 • comment • Reads 317

This is my Antarctica flag. Everything in it there is a specific reason such as the colors, symbols, words, etc. The war sign means that there is no war in Antarctica. The peace sign is there is always peace and no conflict. The carry in carry out sign is a rule; everything you bring in must be carried out so it looks exactly the same as you arrived. The research symbol is there because there is a lot of research being done in Antarctica and new stuff is always being discovered. The tourist is because they are debating on weather tourist should be allowed in Antarctica. The no trash sign means that there is no trash allowed in Antarctica because animals might eat it. The go green sign means that we should be green so we can keep Antarctica how it is. The last sign is the animals that are there because there are many different types of animals and wild life in the air on land and in the ocean in Antarctica.

The Stock Market

Article posted March 4, 2009 at 12:38 PM GMT-5 • comment • Reads 448

The Stock Market

Every stock I chose I had a reason for it. The first stock I bought was Apple because for Christmas last year our family cot a Mac laptop and it is the coolest computer ever. The second reason I bought it was because it was a good growing company and I thought it would do good and I was right. The second stock I chose was Exxon because I thought it was the most successful gas company and because it is rare that is will go down because people need gas to drive their cars to places they need to go. The third company I bought in was Wal-Mart. I thought this stock would go up because Christmas season was in the air.

After watching and reviewing the stock market for 14 weeks I would change many things starting with Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart lost a lot of money which brought my over all total down into the negatives. It lost $5 per share and I bought 74 shares. So if I switched it I would have made money instead of lost money. The second thing I would change is I would have bought more stocks in Apple because it did very good for this economy it went up $8 so if I had bought more it would have got my total into the positives. The next thing I would change is I would have bought more in Exxon because it cost less than apple and it made money.

I would give lots of advice to people after watching the stocks for 14 weeks. T he first thing I would tell them is to buy low and sell high because that way you would make a lot of money. The second thing I would tell them is to stay way from penny stocks because they usually go down. The last thing I would tell them is gas companies are good to invest in because people need gas to drive their cars and if they don’t drive they will not be able to go any were so gas companies will almost all ways go up. So as you can see, the stock market is very unpredictable so be carful if you ever are considering investing, and remember stay away from penny stocks!

This was a still life assignment that we did in art. There was a still life on the table with sports equipment and stuffed animals and other household items. We got to pick the perspective of the still life and we also got to choose the back round.

We started by making rough drafts. Then we either got to pick white or a black peice of paper. After that we drew are rough draft on to the sheet. Then to add texture we put elmers glue on the lines and let it dry. Last we used pastels to color it.
