World War 1

World War 1 ( 1914-1918) saw the begining of Trench Warfare. It was a long and bloody way to fight. They did it mostly by attrition (killing as many people as possible on the other side) . One of the first big battles was the battle of Tannenberg in 1914. The battle was between Russia and Germany. It was especially hard for Russia because many ''soldiers'' were pesants with pitchforks, or kids only about 10. This made things easier for Germany, but the Russians wouldn't give up that easily. The Russians had great pride in their country and were willing to fight to the death for it. The same thing happened in World War 2.
