A trip to Government House
On Wednesday Nov 25th, we traveled by bus to the Government House one of Regina's many historical sites. Government House is a museum displaying artifacts of Amédée Forget when he was Lieutenant Governor in the early 1900's. We visited the " Once Upon A Time Room" where we stepped back in time to experience hands-on play with toys of that era. A guide dressed in a historical costume gave us a tour of the house. As we moved room to room in the museum we were able to peek into Saskatchewan's and Canada's past, and into the lives of the province's Lieutenant Governors. We saw Christmas trees decorated with candy, popcorn strings and toys. Visiting the children's rooms we saw the tiny area where they spent their long cold winters studying, playing and sharing meals with the governess. Our trip ended with an activity that had each student decorate a gingerbread man. What a yummy ending!
