Fall

The first day of fall was Monday, September 22nd.

The sun celebrated fall by shining brightly all week!

We were able to play in the sunshine at recess.

And rest in the shade when we stopped for a break.

We enjoyed the bright sunshine of this season,

Now we will enjoy the bright colors of fall!

I belong!

This is my class,

In my school,

These are my classmates!

I belong!

We will take care of our school,

We will take care of our pencils,

We will take care of each other

caring how our classmates feel.

We work to share the space,

We work to share this place,

We will share with each other

share ideas, games and friendship.

We belong, this is our place!

We care with a smile on our face!

We belong!

Welcome back!

We are diving into learning!

Rainbow fish led us into an investigation of friendship.

How can we be good friends?

The sun is shining, birds are singing,

it's summer in Saskatchewan!

Wait, what do I hear?

Thunder!

Look see the dark clouds!

Oh, the wind is rising, look at the trees swaying!

Quick get inside!

Wait what do I hear?

Is that heavy rain or hail?

Oh, the wind is getting stronger, there go the lawn chairs!

Summer in Saskatchewan!

Hey look the sun is shining.

Listen the birds are singing!

Summer in Saskatchewan!

Now, where are the lawn chairs?

We had a fabulous fieldtrip to Brown's Coulee this week.

The students were so excited and really enjoyed the pond dipping experience. They were able to see real tadpoles and frogs. There were so many insects to view. It was interesting to watch student find insect eggs, larve and adults. They found ladybugs, mosquitoes and dragonflies. Oh yes, we saw tons of brown ticks. The students were so scientific as they examined the ticks checking to see if it was a boy or girl.

The weather was great and we had a lovely day!

Our bloggers work very hard to learn to access computers and to create written communications. Here are some of the I can statements we practice.

I can find words on the words walls and use them to write sentences.

I try to use word patterns and phonetic sounds to spell words.

I can find words that will help me describe things.

I can write a story to make my teacher smile and laugh.

I can write a report about an animal.

I try to use capitals and punctuation.

I try to write sentences with 6 or more words.

I can make a list, a report, a story or write a poem.

Our class has been working with the school's Speech pathologist to introduce a multi sensory approach to develop oral and written language. The strategy or tool is called Expanding Expression tool. We have visuals to help us remember each concept and our class is really enjoying this learning experience.

The students have been working in groups to create webs that help them organize their thoughts, ideas and knowledge. Each student has been using our blog time to create blogs about either what is it or what it is made of?
