Sharing, Collaberation, and Participation

Here's a link to a collaborative photostream hypocritic

My blog shows the themes of sharing, collaberation, and participation because of these few reasons. The first is the sharing part. I have decided to share my knowledge and opinion on movies that I have seen. This means that I have been sharing my thoughts and information. Then there was collaberation. I needed some help figuring things out for my artiles, so I asked my friends and my family on some good ideas to help me with my ideas because they all new what movies I liked.

The last thing was participation. I had some people who were comenting on my articles after they read them. I also told my friends and family what I was thinking and what I was writing so they could tell me their opinion on what I was doing. Kind of like giving me a thumbs up or thumbs down on my ideas.

The Worst Movie I Have Ever Seen

Article posted November 5, 2008 at 02:20 AM GMT0 • comment • Reads 182

For my free write article, because this topic caught my interest while I was thinking, will be about the worst movie I have ever seen. I now have decided that the movie I think stinks the most is Hairspray. I was just so bored during the movie that I almost fell asleep at one point. I was just to uniterested to actually enjoy most of it. Some parts I kind of got into but the whole concept of what the movie was about just seemed a little to old fashioned. I think it's probably because I sometimes don't like some movies that take place years ago like the fifties or seventies (especially the seventies.)

The movie was about a girl who was obsessed about being in a TV show that was suposed to be the most popular for kids and teens. She also meets a guy she likes but can't get to hime because he is with another snobby girl and she is apparently to overwieght to most people, both are classic issues in these kind of movies. If I was forced into rating it I would give it a four out of ten.

Top 10 Movies

Article posted October 30, 2008 at 02:49 PM GMT0 • comment (1) • Reads 158

This is a list of my top ten favorite movies that I have seen. (You don't have to agree with me if you don't want to, this is just my opinion). This is in order of one being the best.

  1. Monty Python and the Holy Grail: This movie was one of the most funniest, random, and bizarre movies I have ever seen. It was so funny though, I was about to die. I was literally on the floor screaming when I first saw it.

  2. Batman: The Dark Knight: Heath Ledger was the best man to play the joker in this movie. I'm just stunned at how awesome this movie was overall. Hooray for action!  3. Hell Boy 2: The Golden Army: This took mythical creatures to the max! I was amazed with the plot to the story and how good the graphics were for the creatures. Then the fights were almost completely and totally insane.

  4. Underworld: This movie was so close to the book "Twilight" that it was scary. It is not for younger more sensitive viewers with the action scenes and the blood that flies everywhere.

  5. Van Helsing: This is another movie with vampires in it except this time they were the bad guys. It has a man who kills monsters for a living that travels to Transylvania to kill the famous Count Dracula and find out what he is planning.

  6. Spider-Man 3: This movie was full of action. It beat the first two Spider-Man movies by a long shot. You should have seen what happens at the end of it in the final battle. It blew my mind!

  7. Band of Brothers: This ten part series was based on a group of men in World War 2 who were part of a group of guys in a legue called airbourn, or the guys who drop out of airplains in parachutes.

  8. Cloverfield: This movie was a pretty decent one and I thought it had a great plot to it. It kind of reminded me of an old Godzilla movie (the Japanese versions) except creepier and from the people's point of view the entire time.

  9. Pirates of the Caribean 3: At World's End: This one was way better then the other two. It had way better battles and the one part at the end where everyone clashed was just awesome! I think everyone who is a fan of this movie series should see it.

  10. Nightmare Before Christmas: This is my all time favorite kid movie and I still love it. The whole story was just excellent and I love Oogie Boogie in it. He may be the bad guy but there is nothing wrong with it. I also love the music they have in the movie a lot.

The Economy

Article posted October 22, 2008 at 03:15 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 156

The issues of the economy are affecting a lot of things, one of those things are the movies. Because of things going on like high gas prices, producers who are asking their normal investers for money to invest in the movies are not giving out like they use to. They are now keeping more and giving less because everything is so expensive.

Another issue is something I realized while watching a movie called "The Producers" a while back, is that you can actually make more money if you make a film good enough to get in theaters but bad enough to the point where nobody wants to see it is that they make more money from that then a really good movie. So now all the producers could at anytime start making bad movies. "That's the part that worries me. If a studio has to decide between making a movie that's really good but might not be hugely profitable, and making a movie that's complete crap but will gross $200 domestic, I know which one they're going to choose," says Eric D. Snider.  So now we lose the oppurtunity to go to the movies because they all want more money!

The last debate I have is if the economy will have an affect on the attendance of movies. In the 1930's when the Great Depression was going on, movie attendance went up tremendously. This was most likely because of the fact that movie tickets cost less then tickets to an actual play. This was very good news for the people who were out of a job back then and needed a little entertainment that didn't cost a whole lot.

Review on Hellboy 2: The Golden Army

Article posted September 29, 2008 at 03:24 PM GMT0 • comment (2) • Reads 4604

Hellboy 2, The Golden Army was one of the best movies I've seen this year. It takes place after the first one when a scientist and a group of soldiers during World War 2 against Germany discovered that they were conducting experiments to bring about a great evil to destroy the world. They stopped them and in the process found a creature who they codenamed Hellboy who stayed under the care of the scientist. When the man who was incharge of the project was resurected, he tried to use Hellboy to finish his work because he was the key to the great evil.

After stopping him, he went back to his old carrear of hunting down and destroying rouge mythical creatures with his friend Abe, an aquatic fish like creature who is very intelligent, and his girl Liz who has the power to summon fire. In the new movie, the trio trying to take down the ancient golden army, witch was said to be indestructable as they all soon found out. The sequal has way more action in it then the one before it and in my opinion, has a better plot with what the elf prince wants. Both though were still pretty good.

I think that Hellboy 2 was a great movie, better then the first one. I give it nine out of ten overall because the story was a very good idea. It almost reminded me of an old story I heard of about a battle. I recommend that you see it because every part kept me on the edge of my seat.

Thoughts on Movies

Article posted September 25, 2008 at 03:14 PM GMT0 • comment (1) • Reads 1223

Normally, adults would think that movies are a lot of fun to go and see because when they were younger, they did the same thing. Maybe they have seen more movies more often then there kids have. In my opinion, I think that adults and teens have the same perspective on movies.

Teens are usually so fond of seeing movies that it can turn into a weekend activity every week. They enjoy going out with there friends to watch and enjoy the movie that everyone says is a must see. So their opinion on movies would most likely be a double thumbs up!

Adults use to be teens too. They use to always want to go out with their friends, go ride their bikes, and much more. They once always wanted to go see the newest movies and hang out there. So what response to seeing a movie would they all have except for a good one? "I remember when we were first starting out, this'll sound silly, I used to make popcorn for us and we'd lie in bed till all hours watching old movies on tv. Now she says the salt make her retain water" says Douglas Brackman, Jr.

Miraculous Movies

Article posted September 17, 2008 at 06:00 AM GMT0 • comment • Reads 4329

I am an 8th grader doing my first blog which I have decided that for it, I will talk about movies. I will tell about my opinions about movies that I have seen and whether I hated or loved it. I will also announce when movies are going to be released in theaters and also on DVD. Then I will give a rating in my opinion on how I think the movie was. The reason you would want to come back to my blog is because you could find out when a movie comes out instantly instead of waiting for the commercial on TV. I will state opinions for the movies if I, or somebody else I know, have seen it. If you read my blog, when you go to the movies, you can find a movie that fits your liking. Then you will also know when the movies come out.
