Brief and Oral Argument, Denver Dispatch

May it please the court; we are the petitioners, representing the Denver Dispatch newspaper.

We appear before you today to ask the Supreme Court to remove the court order that forbids the Denver Dispatch from publishing articles about biological warfare at the Boulder Research Laboratory.

This case is all about how the Denver Dispatch should publish articles about secrets about the government’s biological warfare. We believe the Supreme Court should remove the court order that forbids the Denver Dispatch to publish articles about biological warfare at the Boulder Research Laboratory.

The first reason we believe the Supreme Court should remove the court order that forbids the Denver Dispatch to publish articles about biological warfare at the Boulder Research Laboratory is because of the past Supreme Court decision in Schenck v. United States, in 1919.

This case was about if Charles Schenck could publish anti-war leaflets that said the government shouldn’t be able to force young men into war. Congress had passed a new law that said it was against the law to encourage men to not be drafted for the war.

Justice Holmes wrote as part of the majority, ““We have to ask ourselves every time that we look at a case, ‘Are the words that are said or written used in such a way that they cause a clear and present danger?’…It is a question of how close is this possible danger and how dangerous it could be. Things which we allow in peacetime are sometimes too dangerous to allow in wartime.”

We believe this applies to the Denver Dispatch case because the Denver Dispatch has words that can cause danger. Also, things that are allowed in the Denver Dispatch in peacetime are dangerous in wartime.

The second reason we believe the Supreme Court should remove the court order that forbids the Denver Dispatch to publish articles about biological warfare at the Boulder Research Laboratory is because of the past Supreme Court decision in Near v. Minnesota in 1931.

This case was about whether Jay Near could publish his newspaper, the Saturday Press. The newspaper attacked everyone physically and emotionally.

Justice Hughes wrote as part of the majority that, ““We have usually believed that freedom of the press means that a newspaper can publish what is wants and that the government cannot stop it from publishing what it wants.”

We believe this applies to the Denver Dispatch case because the First Amendment protects the Denver Dispatch’s right to publish what it wants. The Denver Dispatch can publish information on the biological warfare (anthrax X).

The third reason we believe the Supreme Court should remove the court order that forbids the Denver Dispatch to publish articles about biological warfare at the Boulder Research Laboratory is because of the past Supreme Court decision in New York Times v. United States in 1971.

This case was about if the New York Times could publish the “Pentagon Papers” and if they were breaking a law publishing these papers with secret information.

Justice White wrote as part of the majority, ““There are times in which the press can be prevented from publishing information about government plans or operations.”

We believe this applies to the Denver Dispatch case because there are times when the Denver Dispatch can get prevented from publishing information but this time is not one of those times.

The last reasons we believe the Supreme Court should remove the court order that forbids the Denver Dispatch to publish articles about biological warfare at the Boulder Research Laboratory is because of the what is written in the United States Constitution.

It is written that in the Constitution that Congress shall make no law abridging the freedom of speech or of the press. Congress is not allowed to make laws that stop people from speaking, writing, printing, and broadcasting.

We believe that this applies to the Denver Dispatch because the government has no right to stop the Denver Dispatch from writing and printing.

It is also written in the Constitution that the people of the United States set out rules that the government must follow. The Constitution was made to keep peace in the nation, bring about justice, defend the nation a s a whole from foreign enemies, make peoples’ lives better, and make sure that the people remain free.

We believe that this applies to the Denver Dispatch because the Denver Dispatch was written to warn the people of anthrax x. This defends people’s lives.

You have heard the arguments from the petitioner, the Denver Dispatch. We ask the Justices to uphold the freedom of the press granted in the First Amendment and to allow the newspaper to continue to publish the articles about biological warfare research.

Brief and Oral Argument, United States Government

May it please the court; we are the respondents, representing the United States government.

We appear before you today to ask the Supreme Court to uphold the court order that the lower court and the appeals court imposed on the Denver Dispatch newspaper.

This case is about not letting the Denver Dispatch publish military secrets about biological warfare in Boulder, Colorado.

We believe the Supreme Court should forbid the newspaper from publishing further articles about biological warfare research at the Boulder Research Laboratory.

The first reason we believe the Supreme Court should forbid the newspaper to publish further articles about biological warfare research at the Boulder Research Laboratory is because of the past Supreme Court decision in Schenck v. United States, in 1919.

This case was about Charles Schenck printing 15, 000 leaflets.

Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes wrote as part of the majority, “What someone is constitutionally allowed to do depends upon the time and place in which it is done. . .Things which we allow in peacetime are sometimes too dangerous to allow in wartime.”

We believe this applies to the Denver Dispatch case because we are in a war. Freedom of speech isn’t important while in a war.

The second reason we believe the Supreme Court should forbid the newspaper to publish further articles about biological warfare research at the Boulder Research Laboratory is because of the past Supreme Court decision in Near v. Minnesota in 1931.

This case was about Jay Near publishing a newspaper which was anti-Jewish, anti-government, and it attacked everyone: gangsters, police, commissioners, and even the mayor.

Justice Butler wrote as part of the minority, “The newspaper has already published false and outrageous stories that harm the reputations of various people. The use of the law in this case is a way of punishing the newspaper for already abusing its right of freedom of the press.”

We believe this applies to the Denver Dispatch case because the Denver Dispatch is already abusing the Freedom of the Press.

The third reason we believe the Supreme Court should forbid the newspaper from publishing further articles about biological warfare research at the Boulder Research Laboratory is because of the past Supreme Court decision in New York Times v. United States in 1971.

This case was about whether it was constitutional for the New York Times to publish past military secrets and the thinking of the U.S. generals.

Justice Blackmun wrote as part of the minority opinion. “Each section of the Constitution is important and [we] do not believe that the First Amendment is so important. . . .”

We believe this applies to the Denver Dispatch case because we believe the First Amendment isn’t that important that it stands above the other sections.

The last reason we believe the Supreme Court should remove the court order that forbids the Denver Dispatch to publish articles about biological warfare at the Boulder Research Laboratory is because of the what is written in the United States Constitution.

It is written in the Constitution that the Constitution was made to “keep peace in the nation.”

We believe this applies to the Denver Dispatch case because if the lab gives out secrets there will be no peace in the nation.

It is also written in the Constitution that “the President is the Chief Executive.”

We believe this applies to the Denver Dispatch case because he (or she) must protect us if he (or she) thinks it is dangerous.

You have heard the arguments from the respondents, the United States government. We ask the Justices to uphold the constitutional right of the government to protect the national security by blocking the Denver Dispatch articles on biological warfare research.

1. The Story:
The government want to stop the publication of the Denver Dispatch newspaper because they think it’s saying military secrets about a biological weapons laboratory in Boulder, Colorado. In the lower courts the Denver Dispatch lost and they kept appealing until they got to the Supreme Court.

2. The Denver Dispatch Goes to the Supreme Court

The lawyers for the government argued:
The lawyers for the government argued that the Denver Dispatch should not publish the Denver Dispatch because they thought it was giving away military secrets. They argued that the First Amendment right to Freedom of the Press was not the most important Amendment.

The lawyers for the Denver Dispatch argued:
The lawyers for the Denver Dispatch argued that they have the freedom to print their articles and the people should know what the military is doing in the lab.

The Supreme Court Justices decided:
The Supreme Court voted 5 to 4 in favor of the Denver Dispatch.

Writing for the majority, Justice RockGirl voted in favor of the Denver Dispatch. She wrote:

I, RockGirl, believe the Denver Dispatch has the Constitutional right to publish information about the military laboratory in Boulder, Colorado. I believe they have this right because you can’t break the Constitution because terrorists “might” attack or “may” attack. I do not believe the government has the Constitutional right to stop the Denver Dispatch from publishing because if the government stops the Denver Dispatch from publishing terrorists may still attack.

Writing for the majority, Justice Mets1 voted in favor of the Denver Dispatch. He wrote:

I, Mets1, believe the Denver Dispatch has the Constitutional right to publish information about the military laboratory in Boulder, Colorado because like the Denver Dispatch said, terrorists won’t attack because it is peace time not war time.

I believe the Government doesn’t have the Constitutional right to stop the Denver Dispatch from publishing information about the military laboratory in Boulder, Colorado because the Congress has no right to make laws that stop people from speaking, writing, printing, or broadcasting. I don’t think they have anything to be worried about because it is peacetime.

Writing for the majority, Justice SuperStar9 voted in favor of the Denver Dispatch. She wrote:

I, SuperStar9, believe the Denver Dispatch has the Constitutional right to publish information about the military Laboratory in Boulder, Colorado. I believe they have this right because, “there are times in which the press can be prevented from publishing information about government plans or operations.” But this time is not one of those times. I do not believe the government has the Constitutional right to stop the Denver Dispatch from publishing information about the military in Boulder, Colorado. We believe this applies to the Denver Dispatch case because the Denver Dispatch is already abusing the freedom of the press. But they aren’t publishing false and outrageous stories. So why punish them?

Writing for the majority, Justice HolibackGurl voted in favor of the Denver Dispatch. She wrote:

I, HolibackGurl, believe the Denver Dispatch has the Constitutional right to publish information about the military laboratory in Boulder, Colorado. I believe that they have this right because they published one article and there has been no terrorist attack. Also they are warning people about this Anthrax X so if this stuff got out it could have killed someone. I do not believe the government has this Constitutional right to stop the Denver Dispatch from publishing information about the military laboratory in Boulder, Colorado because they put national security in front of the First Amendment. Also they didn’t do very well about answering questions.

Writing for the majority, Justice BlackPanther voted in favor of the Denver Dispatch. He wrote:

I, BlackPanther, believe the Denver Dispatch has the Constitutional right to publish information about the military laboratory in Boulder, Colorado. I believe they have this right because the people should know what the government is doing in the lab. The government said they have the cure for Anthrax X so why are they afraid that the Denver Dispatch will publish the secrets? We are in peacetime not in wartime. I do not believe the government has the Constitutional right to stop the Denver Dispatch from publishing information about the military laboratory in Boulder, Colorado because they said they have the cure for Anthrax X so why should they be afraid. The Denver Dispatch has freedom of speech and freedom of the press.

Writing for the minority, Justice Alvarez voted in favor of the government. He wrote:

I, Mario64, believe the government has the Constitutional right to stop the Denver Dispatch from publishing information about the military laboratory in Boulder, Colorado. I believe they have this right because they want to publish papers that reveal the military secrets. I do not believe the Denver Dispatch has the Constitutional right to publish information about the military laboratory in Boulder, Colorado because it’s revealing military secrets that are not supposed to be heard even if there is a virus or anything that might get us sick.

Writing for the minority, FamousStar3000, voted in favor of the government. She wrote:

I, FamousStar3000, believe the government has the Constitutional right to stop the Denver Dispatch from publishing about the military laboratory in Boulder, Colorado. I think the government has the right to stop publishing these articles. The government wants to keep our county safe. I do not believe the Denver Dispatch has the right to publish these articles. The articles might fall into the wrong hands and something bad might happen. Even though it’s been peacetime for a long time, you don’t know what can happen. Something can happen any day now if those articles are published.

Writing for the minority, Justice Luigi2Power voted in favor of the government. He wrote:

I, Luigi2Power, believe the government has the Constitutional right to stop the Denver Dispatch from publishing information about the military lab in Boulder, Colorado. I believe they have the right because like they said, if the newspaper was published then our enemies can find out and the public might worry. I do not believe the Denver Dispatch has the right to publish information about the military secrets because our enemies might find out, and they will make a plan to destroy us.

Writing for the minority, Justice MusicGirl voted in favor of the government. She wrote:

I, MusicGirl, believe the Government has the Constitutional right to stop the Denver Dispatch from publishing information about the military laboratory. I believe they have this right because what if the next five articles put us in danger if they are published? What if people find out more about Anthrax X and it gets in the wrong hands and hurts innocent people and the military can’t get there in time to stop the Anthrax X? Like the attorneys for the government said, “The First Amendment isn’t the most important part of the Constitution.” I believe that because it’s not the only Amendment or the only part of the Constitution. I think they should all be thought of as equally. Also, like the people in my family say, “You’re better safe than sorry.” I do not believe the Denver Dispatch has the Constitutional right to publish information about the military laboratory in Bolder, Colorado. First, when I saw the attorneys argue for the Denver Dispatch they looked like they weren’t collected. But when I saw the attorneys argue for the government, I thought that they were very put together and knew what they were doing. Second, I liked the way they said their argument and stated their rebuttal. They answered the questions very clearly, and I wasn’t as confused when they were stating their rebuttal and argument. So that’s why I agree with the government.

The "Sand Lot" is about these nine kids that always playing in a sand lot. It’s in the old days. But a greedy dog lives behind the rusty old fence that is in the sand lot.
So one day one of the nine boys (Smalls) hits a baseball signed by Babe Ruth. They had to get it back because it was Small's dad's signed baseball and it was signed by Babe Ruth! Whatever goes over that fence stays over the fence! So they tried every way to get the ball back. They just couldn’t get it back so Benny jumped over the fence and got the ball. The dog chased Benny through the whole town. Then when they got back to the sand lot the dog knocked over the fence. But it’s a good thing they got the ball back.

I think people should see this movie because it’s the funniest movie ever seen. It’s also a terrific kids movie. It’s my favorite movie.

I just had a gymnastics competition and it was called "Regionals." It was so fun and also really exciting because I did such a good job at it. I got a 9.987 on floor and a 8.464 on beam and a 9.435 on bars and a 9.998 on vault. I think I did pretty good.

I mostly like bars because my nickname is "Monkey Girl" because I’m a gymnast and I swing like a monkey and act like a monkey. On bars I also get to swing on the bars which I think is really fun for me.

I’m really excited that I actually made it to bars because at the State Competition you had to get a 33.5 on all-around. I made over it which I'm also really excited for.

Now I have Nationals coming up. It's on June 27. . . .I think, well, I hope I do good at Nationals. . . .

Do you want your child to smoke or drink? Do you want them to have a short life? Do you feel they just never listen to you? Teens should stop smoking and drinking!

First of all, they could get drunk and hurt other people. Someone in my class knows this person and their uncle came home drunk. His wife wouldn’t let him inside the house so he tried to break through the window. Then he broke his whole arm and there was a pile of blood on the side walk. That’s how bad it is to be drunk.

In addition, it is very bad for your insides. Smoking can make your teeth yellow, your hair fall out, and your finger nails turn yellow and brown. You can also get lung cancer, brain cancer, breast cancer, mouth cancer, and stomach cancer, and die from all of the cancers.

And most importantly, you can die when you are really young. Once in the village in front of Sal’s Pizzeria this kid that was about 14 was asking for a cigarette from this old man. The old man was just ignoring him. He’s’ already 14 and smoking! He’ll probably die young.

Most teenagers think their cool for smoking and drinking in front of their friends which is bad because they can’t stop. But I think they shouldn’t smoke or drink because it can slow their life down.

Smoking and drinking is bad for teens because you can die when your young and you’re not cool when you smoke and drink. I mean, why do they smoke and drink anyway? Do they think it’s cool? TEENS, DON’T SMOKE OR DRINK!

This monkey found a dog and ever since they saw each other it was friendship at first sight.

I think it is really amazing how a monkey and a dog can actually become friends at first sign, but it's also really cute!

Introduction
This song is about my great grandma who passed away a year ago. I'll always miss her because she was the best grandma ever. I remember when I went to her house and I always had my stuffed animal dog. It's name was Stuffy. I always used to go on my grandma's deck. I used to always drop Stuffy over the deck so me and my grandma had to go outside and go around the corner and into her backyard and get Stuffy. I always thought it was so funny. I also remember she told me that every morning she would go outside and feed the deer and rabbits that came in her back yard. One day my mom woke me up on a Saturday morning and she said that Nanny (my great grandma) died and. I started to cry. My mom was holding me in her arms while I was crying. Now I'm about to cry again. Well, here goes the song. . . !

I felt so bad for this little fox! In a person's yard this fox came and there was food in the jar that the fox found in the backyard. The fox started to eat it. After that the fox stuck his head in the jar to get the food out. The fox was stuck. He was struggling to get out and he couldn’t. That’s why I felt really bad for him. Then the animal rescue came and helped the fox out of the jar. They got him out and the fox TOOK OFF!

After that the people that owned the yard put out food and drinks for the fox, but the fox NEVER came back. The people that owned the yard thought that the fox would never come back to their yard again because the fox learned its lesson.

Maggie (under her breath): Oh, high heels? Of course. . . .

Alyssa: Did you say something?

Maggie (smiling and walking farther from her): No!

Alyssa: There’s something up with her today….

(In school hallway.)

Alyssa: I’m telling you there is something up with her. I tried talking to her in Biology but she wouldn’t talk to me. I asked her if she was mad at me, and she said no. It’s just like she’s not the same ever since I told her about the high heels shoe sale.

Max: Maybe she doesn’t like high heels?

Mini: Yeah, maybe Max is right?

Alyssa (taking a deep breath): Nooooo! No, no, stop saying that! Oh!

Alexa: You never know, Alyssa.

(Max, Mini, and Alexa walk off.)

Alyssa (putting her hands over her eyes not knowing what to do): No, that can’t be it. Maybe it is, I don’t know.

(Maggie enters. Alyssa still has her hands over her eyes.)

Maggie: Hi, Alyssa!

Alyssa: AH! You scared me!

Maggie: Oh, sorry.

Alyssa: Hey, you haven’t been the same ever since I told you about the shoe sale on high heels. And Max said that maybe you don’t like high heels anymore. I know that can’t be possible, right?

Maggie: Uh, of course not! BYE!

(Maggie runs off.)

Alyssa: Now there is DEFINITELY something wrong with her today!

(The scene changes to Alyssa’s house. Alyssa walks in to her dad and mom’s room and her dad is watching TV on the bed.)

Alyssa: Hey dad, Maggie was really different today.

Dad: Why?

Alyssa: Well, I’m not really sure but it started ever since I told her about the high heels sale that’s in an hour.

Dad: Maybe she doesn’t like high heels.

Alyssa: WHY DOES EVERYBODY KEEP SAYING THAT?! Max, Mini and Alexa said that and now my dad. Uuuugggghhhh!

Dad: Maybe they’re right.

(The doorbell rings.)

Alyssa: I’ll get it!

(Alyssa opens the door.)

Alyssa: Hey, Maggie, come in.

(They go and sit on the couch.)

Alyssa: I need to ask you a question.

Maggie: Sure, anything. What is it Alyssa? Wait, I think I know. Are you gonna’ ask why I have been so strange today. It’s because. . . .

Alyssa: What is it?

Maggie (NOT telling the truth): Jjuuusstt because. . . .I was in one of my moods.

Alyssa: Well, ok!

(Maggie hangs out a little at her house. After, Alyssa goes on a three way phone call with Max, Alexa, and Mini.)

Max: Soooo, what happened with you guys?

Alyssa: She said that she was in one of her “moods.”

Mini: Do you believe her?

Alyssa: I don’t know, should I?

Alexa: Well, it’s up to you.

Alyssa: What do you think guys?

Mini: Yup, I agree, it’s up to you.

Alyssa: Max? You got any advice?

Max: Nope, sorry. I agree with Alexa and Mini too.

Alyssa: Wait, I’m getting another call. It’s Maggie! What do I do?-

Mini: Just speak to her!

Alyssa: But what if. . . ?

Max, Mini, and Alexa at the same time: GO!

Alyssa: Fine, fine, bye!

Max, Mini, and Alexa at the same time: Bye!

Max: You think she’s gonna’ make it?

Alexa: Not at all.

Mini: Same.

(They all get off the phone. Alyssa and Maggie are on the phone)

Alyssa: Hey, Maggie.

Maggie: Hey, Alyssa. I was wondering if you were free on Friday. Maybe we can have one of our sleepovers!

Alyssa: Friday, Friday, uh, yeah I think I’m free.

Maggie: Your house, 6:00?

Alyssa: Awesome!

(Next day, two days before the sleepover, Alyssa passes Maggie in the hallway. Maggie is talking to Mini, Max and Alexa. Alyssa realizes she is wearing shoes instead of high heals. Alyssa wipes her eyes thinking she’s seeing wrong. When she takes her hand off of her eyes she sees she wasn’t mistaken. Alyssa just shrugs and walks off.)

(Day of the sleepover. Scene changes to Alyssa’s concert. Maggie and Alyssa are together, arms locked with each other. Max, Mini, Alexa and six girls are behind them.)

Maggie: Good luck.

(They hug each other.)

Max: Well, we better go take or seats.

(Scene changes to a stage. Alyssa’s friends are in the front seat. Alyssa is up on stage.

(Everyone else does, too. Maggie wakes up. Everyone is still asleep.)

(Mini stays quiet. The sleepover ends.The scene changes to the school hallway, and Alyssa is telling Max what happened.)

Alyssa: I can’t believe she likes sneakers more than high heels.

Max: Well, um, Alyssa. . . .

Alyssa: And I know I’m going to have you on my side. Because obviously when me and Maggie get in fights your always on my side.

Max: Well, I am actually on -

Max: Could you just let me finish?!

Alyssa: You don’t have to. I know you’re going to be on my side, right. . . ?

Max: Actually, no.

Alyssa: What do you mean, no?

Max: I’m on Maggie’s side. Bye, Alyssa

(Max walks off stage.)

(They hang up on the phone.)

(The scene changes to the hallway. Alyssa and Maggie both come in. Maggie is walking one direction, Alyssa is walking the other and they pass each other. Everyone gasps. Alyssa comes in with Alexa and Maggie comes in with Max and Mini.)

Maggie: Uhh. . . .

Alyssa: Umm. . . .

Alexa and Mini (at same time to each other): Look what the wind blew in? Look what the cat dragged in?

Maggie and Alyssa (at the same time): It’s OK, I got this!

(Alyssa looks down at Maggie’s feet. She is wearing sneakers. Then Maggie looks down at Alyssa’s feet and sees she is wearing high heels.)

Alyssa: Soooo. . . .

Maggie: Awkward!

(They both laugh a little then look back at each other with a straight face.)

Alyssa: Hey, don’t laugh. I’m mad at you!

Maggie: Well, I’m mad at you!

(There’s a long pause. Then they start laughing.)

Maggie: Nothing can keep us apart.

Alyssa: Not even a pair of high heels and sneakers.

Maggie: Hug?

Alyssa: Hug!

(Everyone says Awww.)

Max: And I have to say something too. I wasn’t really on someone’s side.

Alyssa and Maggie (at the same time to Max): What?!

Max: I was trying to get you guys to realize how stupid this fight is.

There have been many people that are good to me, but I think the only person that is mostly good to me is my best friend CherrGirl. She has always been there for me. I think we met when we were about four years old. I think our moms met because my older brother is now 13 and CheerGirl's brother just turned 14. (But he was 13 about a week ago, and my brother is turning 14 in November.) I think my brother and CheerGirl's brother met at school in about 2nd grade, and that’s what got our mom’s talking. CheerGirl is a very bright person. She has a really good personality, she is beautiful, nice to everyone around her, and she has lots of friends because of her great personality. She is very loyal and cares for people and things around her. She cares for her friends a lot. I know she is the perfect best friend for me!

(The scene skips to the end of Julia’s private school. The prince comes all the way to Julia’s school to say how sorry he was for what he said to her before.)

Prince: Dear! My dear, loving wife. . . !

Princess: Wife!?

Prince: Yes, wife.

Princess (starting to cry): Well, I’m not sure if I want to marry you because you called me. . . .ANNOYING!

Prince: Oh, my dear wife, please don’t cry. . . .

Princess: I’m sorry but I have to go.

Prince: WAIT!

Princess: What?

(Prince gives her a kiss on the cheek, but he doesn’t really kiss her he pretends to.)

Princess: OMG!

Prince: Now will you marry me?

Princess: . . .YES!

Brother: I’m so happy that you two are getting married!

Prince: Hey, buddy!

Brother: Hey!

Brother: Well, I have to go out. See you later! Bye!

Prince: OK, bye!

Princess’s friends: Hey, so I heard you were getting married!

Princess’s friend: I’m so happy for you.

Princess’s sister: I work here as a teacher!

(The next day the prince and princess get married. After they end up at the princess’s house. The princess starts to sing the same song as the prince sang in the beginning of the story.)

Now, it was just an ordinary day, and it was really windy. There was this dog. Her name was Tinker Bell and was only 8 months old and.

Tinker Bell's leash was securely fastened to a cooler at the back of the trailer. Suddenly at 2.30 pm, a 70mph gust of wind swept through the area, lifting not only all the goods, but also poor Tinker Bell. Her owners watched in disbelief as their beloved black and tan Chihuahua that weighed a mere 5lbs "flew" away, high up in the skies, beyond reach.

I felt so bad! I watched this video, and t didn’t show the dog getting blown away. I can just imagine it getting blown away.

For the next two days they still couldn’t find the dog. Then, finally, the dog came back on Monday.

I was very surprised. I thought she would never come back. This poor dog had flown over three lanes and then LANDED IN THE WOODS! One mile away! The hungry and tired dog was excited to see his owners.

What an amazing story! I thought that was the best story I have ever read!

Have you ever heard of an orangutan hospital? Well, it's true there are hospitals for orangutans. I think it is amazing how those people can actually take care of them because they are really hard to care for. If I were in a hospital caring for them I think it would be really hard work.

Oh, my gosh! I think it is so amazing how this dog can fit into a teacup and it’s also in the book of world records because it’s the smallest dog in the world! It is only four-inch, 3 oz puppy and can fit in a teacup. I think it is amazing! I really wish I could be that small, but I also think it is hard to be that small because what if one day you decide to go out and take a walk and you get stepped on by other people. That would really hurt. I also think it is amazing how this dog can fit in to a teacup. It is as big as a person’s palm. The people that own this one dog also own three other dogs and they're all the same kind of dogs. They are that dog's siblings. I think it is truly amazing, but I also think it very sad because there other brothers and sisters got sold when they were only six years old. I would really hate it if I had to give away my dog (Daisy). It is also very hard to give away dogs that you really love. I think it’s mean and sad to give away a dog that you really care for and love. This dog is a Chihuahua and it lives in Florida, I think it is the cutest dog ever. I really agree with the people that made this article.

This man loves animals. He mostly likes tigers. He takes care of this one lion all of the time. He also loves to jump in the river and play with it in the water.

I'd love to do that to because I think it looks very, very fun. I think it is amazing and weird how this guy spends most of the time in his life hugging and kissing cats. I love animals and cats and tigers myself. I think they are adorably cute, and I love to cuddle them because I think they are so cute. But I also think they are dangerous. Well, not that dangerous, only a little dangerous. I also love animals, but I think that it is very, very, very, dangerous that someone would do something like that.

Well, I go to the town of Mamaroneck! The town of Mamaroneck invites you to come and buy nice cloths and eat great food! It’s fun going into our town.

First of all, I think shopping in the village is fun because
at Toy Box you get to buy candy, and I LOVE CANDY!

Second of all, my town is fun because you get to buy Sal’s Pizza. Sal’s Pizza is delicious because when you put it in your mouth you could feel that nice warm cheese just melting in your mouth. It’s so good!

And most importantly, I like to go to the harbor because you play soccer and go to play in the park. You could play lava tag with your friends.

So if you want to eat good food, buy really nice clothes, and play at the harbor, then come to the town of Mamaroneck!

D.A.R.E is a very fun and an interesting program to learn. You learn about making good choices, the effects of drugs, and what can happen to you if you smoke or drink alcohol or smoke marijuana. All of those things I just mentioned can slow you down in your body and growth system.

We learned about making good and healthy choices. We thought about alcohol, marijuana, and smoking. We wrote a warning label. We solved tobacco situations. We talked about how hard it is to say “no” to your friends. We learned about peer pressure situations and all of the things that can affect your body.

But what I think was most interesting to learn about was smoking. Smoking can slow your body down. Smoking can make your teeth and lungs brown and make your teeth fall out. It’s a good thing I learned this. I never knew how bad all those things I learned were. I was very shocked when I heard what smoking marijuana and tobacco can do to you. It’s a great thing I learned in D.A.R.E.

I’m so happy I learned D.A.R.E, and I promise I won’t smoke, smoke marijuana, or drink alcohol at all in my young life or older life=http://!

Wooooooow=http://! I think it is amazing how they're making a robot of Albert Einstein. He really died in 1955. If you look at it, you’re staring into an eye of a robot. I think this is really scary for me to look at a robot in the eye. It is able to replicate all 48 human facial muscles, thanks to its 32 built-in motors. Its skin, made with a new material called Frubber, is flexible enough to allow for very realistic expressions. He has been programmed to understand common expressions like sadness, anger, happiness, fear and confusion. I think it is very cool how those people could make these robots. Some people that make them are even scared of them Well, I think that it is very cool how people can build these really amazing things=http://! P.S But its also very creepy.

I was in control of the data. My responsibility was I was supposed to receive data from Mission Control and Navigation. Then I was supposed to type the note to either Navigation or Mission Control.

I’d say the most significant information I collected was the one to Navigation. It was about the degrees from Life Support’s station.

I thought the hardest part about my job was when I received messages from other stations. They kept sending it to the wrong person. So I had to print another one, and then send it to the right person.

If I had another chance to fly, I’d make sure I get everything right because last time I kept sending the wrong information to the wrong people. The next time I really hope I get everything correct.

Well, I had a really good time at the Buehler Challenger and Science Center. It was challenging and fun and lots of other kids in our class and in other classes from 5th grade said they really liked it.

My first gymnastics competition was on January 10th, 2009. My all around score was 31.54, and the highest score you could get up to is 40. I got second place. It was very exiting. I would love to do another competition. Well, I already did and two of my best friends came, Rory and Katarina. There is this dog that is very deaf. She cannot hear anything so her owner taught her some tricks. He taught her how to say kiss, talk, sit, stay, dance, lie down, and paw.

I feel so bad for the dog because she is tone deaf. That guy that is teaching her how to do sign language is still a good thing, but I still feel bad for the dog. She has to live her whole life learning sign language.

There was this one time when I was at my friend's house. Her name is Kirsten, and I was on her trampoline. I did a back handspring, and I landed on my foot. But when I landed, I landed on this medal part on her trampoline. I didn’t want her to find out what had happened so I just hopped off the trampoline just like nothing ever happened. The next thing I know I got up off of the floor, and I just fell down onto the ground. I didn't know what had happened but all I knew is that I probably BROKE MY FOOT!

OOOOHHHH!

Now I didn’t know what I did to my foot. I was so mad at myself. I knew I should have never, ever did that last back handspring. A day later I went to the hospital on crutches. You know, those things that you walk on when your foot is broken.

Well, anyway, when I went to the hospital I was very nervous. I really did not want to go. When I got there I was very afraid. I was about to. . .nevermind. When I got to the hospital there was this doctor. He just started to talk to me. I was afraid that he was going to say my foot was broken.

Well, he did say that it was broken. I got very nervous. I was about to cry. I was so mad at myself. Then the doctor told me to go to this other doctor. I forgot what kind of doctor it was called but I'll call him a bone doctor.

I went two days later. I thought he was really nice. His name was doctor Unis. He told me I could go back to gymnastics in six weeks.

Well, it is already passed six weeks. So now I'm back to gymnastics! Yeah!

There are many places that have been effected by geographical features like climate and water supply. In this essay I will be talking about the geographical features in Alaska and the desert in North Africa.

One way geographical features effects people is because in Alaska you get frostbitten when it’s 50 degrees below zero so people are forced to stay inside. Then people can’t go outside. They can’t do anything because if you step any foot outside then they can get a really bad frost bite. In the desert in Africa it is really hot. Its good for the animals but it is not good for the people. It effects them because they don’t have that much water. They always need to drink water to stay alive.

So you could see that it’s really cold in Alaska and really hot in Africa which can make it hard for people to live there.

I think the animals I'd probably see at a pet store would be dogs, cats, frogs, fish, hamsters, mise, ferrets, bunnies, hermit crabs, birds, and lizards. Out of all of those animals I'd probably choose three pets: the dog, cat, and lizard because I love all three of those animals.

I'd probably choose the dog because I already have a dog and they're so fun to play with. My dog Daisy just loves to have fun. I mean, what kind of other dog can play with you in your backyard?! My dog is very, very, talented and that’s why if my parents let me get another dog I'd probably choose another dog. Then all three of us could play tag in my backyard and that would be very fun to play with two dogs.

Dogs are very fun and talented. They always know how to do everything. I mean, sometimes they do things all by themselves. Sometimes you can just sit on the couch and watch TV while your dog is outside in your backyard playing with its toys. If the toy gets stuck on something high, well, that’s no problem if your dog is an expert at climbing. It will be easy for them.

That’s why I want a dog really, really bad.

I know this turtle is a weird looking turtle that looks like it's ready to party! And I know everyone is wondering what that green stuff growing on its head is. Well, it’s definitely not hair dye. It's called green algae. It might look icky but it's not because algae is really just grass. You could find these kinds of turtles in Queensland, Australia. In the 1960’s and 1970’s these turtles used to be very popular as pets, and that’s why lots of people had them as pets. But now the numbers have changed and they're one of the most endangered fresh water species in the Australian waters. These turtles lay 100 eggs each year but sometimes bad things happen to the eggs. Other animals eat them. These turtles can swim extremely fast with their small head and big body. These turtles hibernate in the winter just like other animals.

There was this man named Joe, and he lived in Scottsdale. One day he had a seizure. (A seizure is like a stroke.) So his 18 month old
German Shepard, Buddy, saved him from a seizure.

What happened was his dog saw that his owner was having a seizure. Noone knows how but the dog is so amazing at saving lives because he rushed over to the phone while Joe was having a seizure. Buddy called 911 and started barking on the phone. The police saw the man's caller id and came rushing over to the house. When they came in the door they were looking around the house until they heard the dog barking in the living room. The police ran into the living room and guess what they saw? They saw the dog standing next to Joe (the man that owns the house) barking. The police could hear the loud barking. They rushed over to Joe and brought him to the hospital. He stayed there for two days.
