I see a glimpse of blue skies above! Paulding County has been "under the weather" the past few days as flood waters have risen to damage homes, schools, and roads. This is our third day to be home from school. I have used my time to catch up on tasks that I have been putting on the back burner. I have done a little research, created some lessons, and purged files in my home office. Thankfully, I have been knee deep in paperwork instead of water. 

Students, I hope you have all been safe and dry. I understand that many of you have been without water and electricity for periods of time. Hopefully, all will be back to normal soon. Take a few moments and tell us how you have spent your time away from school!

1. I have been teaching for thirty-five years!


2. I love really dark milk chocolate in candy, cakes, or pies.


3. Reading is a favorite past-time, but I don't get a chance to enjoy it as much as I would like.


4. I have five beautiful granddaughters that bring joy to my life.


5. My favorite colors are red and black, but my team colors are orange and blue because I'm an Auburn fan.  


6. I enjoy gardening and love flowers.  Roses are my favorite, but the old fashioned Tea Olive bush cannot be beaten for its pungent fragrance. 


7. I like to sew and enjoy creating beautiful things.

•  The time has come for Nebo Elementary to open its doors to eager students ready to begin another exciting year of learning and sharing ideas. Smith's Class Blog is a place to post your comments and ideas about events happening in our classroom. 


•   I'd like to thank all of the parents who have sent in supplies. The donations to our classroom are greatly appreciated. Our school store is now open in the media center each morning.  The store opens at 7:30 each morning.  Students should come by the classroom and pick up a store pass before going. 


• Our PTA is a fantastic organization.  If you have not joined our Nebo PTA, please consider doing so.  They are very supportive of our learning community and do so many wonderful things for our students.  Classes with 100% participation win a party, and Smith's Class loves parties! 


• I am so excited about our classroom blog!  I can't wait to see my students sharing their ideas with the world as they improve their writing skills.
