Field Day

Article posted May 17, 2010 at 04:08 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 913

Field day was fun but hard, I liked mostly all of the games besides the ones with water because I really don’t like being wet. The hard part was watching out for the kids on my team because they kept wandering off because they knew where we had to be next and I lost track of them… I noticed that it was more fun to play with 5D than our teams. My favorite game was basketball because firstly, I enjoyed basketball when we did it in P.E, and am good at it. Overall Field Day was a great day outside and I really enjoyed myself.

Camping

At one morning
I lay wide awake
Watching the stars
Listening to the rippling river
Smell the fire getting low
Tasting the s'mores still in my teeth
Feel the warm flannel blankets
As I burrow underneath

I am from jumping inside cold pools and feeling the cold water grow hot.
I am from books where I get lost in another world of adventure.
I am from yummy, and soft cold ice cream that looks delicious.
I am from friends that fill me up with happiness.
I am from fun rock climbing with friends.
I am from sandy, blue watered beaches.
I am from comfy, soft beanbags.
I am from…

Pre show Jitters

Article posted February 19, 2010 at 06:22 AM GMT0 • comment • Reads 320

Our 5th grade music concert is an hour away, and I’m not really nervous jitters but I’m getting happy jitters. I used to get preshow jitters when I was younger, but now I’m used to getting up on stage. I only get them if I have to stand up in front of people alone and there is a big audience. I sometimes get jitters after a performance that I have to be alone on stage, because I’m wondering if I did okay or if I was terrible, I usually ask someone I trust how well I did and if they say I did well then I feel much better. I’m glad I don’t get them much anymore but I still don’t like it when I get them.

Perswasive Writing Letter

Article posted February 11, 2010 at 03:39 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 273

Dear mom and dad,
Here are a couple of reasons that I need to earn money to buy a tree. I really think this is important for the universe and the people living on earth. Lots of people may think this is silly but I don’t and I think it is important because when I grow up I want to be able to breathe fresh air and not polluted air from cars and boats. I know that cars are good for transportation but we need more trees to make up for that pollution that we are making.
Clear cutting is bad for us but also bad for animals. Animals lose their homes, like it sometimes happens to us. How do you think that feels? We hate it when it happens to us so why do we do it to animals that are harmless. Now, animals die and lose their homes just because we want a wooden lodge or a wooden boat. Why can’t we just have a fiber glass boat or a stone lodge? Animals natural habitats are being cut down and the animals are coming down the mountains into people’s homes and killing them andor their pets.
I will have pride in my tree if I earn the money to pay for it. I might love my tree more if I do the chores to buy it. I will have a sense of ownership. When I think about my tree I will have thoughts of doing chores for it and think about the fact that I worked hard for it.
The trees are part of a huge ecosystem. The trees prevent mud slides that slide down hills. If there is a lake or a river at the bottom of the hill then the mud will slide down into the riverlake and if fish live in the water the mud will slide in and kill the fish. Therefore if we go fishing in that rivelake, we won’t be able to fish because there won’t be any fish.
It is really vital that we plant trees because of our ecosystem and to make up for the clear cutting that is happening to our trees. The trees have a life and deserve to live it well like we deserve to too. Even though the trees may not talk and we think they are not very important, they really are and may be the most important thing to us. We need to make up for the wrongs that we have done and change!!!

Up The Mountains

Article posted February 2, 2010 at 11:50 AM GMT0 • comment • Reads 264

When we went up the mountains on our field trip we had lots of fun. On the ride up we sang songs and talked a lot it was as if it was a vacation with the class. When we got up there we hiked in the snow and learned about cedar trees. We then to the busses to the place we would sleep. I made two new friends there and had lots of fun with them! My new friends and my roommates had a really fun time, but the teachers kept coming in and telling us to lower our voices. One time Ameera turned off the lights and I was trying to push Maha off the bed (it was a joke) Maha said “Its not working” and the very moment she said that I managed to push her off the bed!!! HAHAHA...

In the night Layla (one of my roommates) woke up and two seconds after I woke up, and the in the morning I woke up and she woke up two seconds after me. What a coincidence! The night was cold even under lots of covers and blankets.

The next day we did archery, repelling and spider web. Spider web was my favourite because I got lifted up through the 2nd hole in the 2nd row and was really fun because there was anxiety but also coolness in my tummy, the first time it was a bit scary because I only had 1 person holding my arms so I felt that she might drop me but she was 1 of my friends so I knew she wouldn’t unless I slipped out of her grasp.

It was really fun and I hope we get to do it again=http://

The Best Substitute I Ever Had!!!!

Article posted January 17, 2010 at 06:17 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 215

The best substitute I ever had was Mr. Sammy!!! :D I really liked Mr. Sammy because he talked to us in snack (while sitting on a desk!) and joined in with whatever we were doing. He didn't know that he was supposed to read to us in lunch so Nadine just offered him the book: Harry Potter and the Sorcer's Stone, he stared reading it and on the second day we finished the 1st chapter and got me interested in reading the book (big help because I couldn't find any good books in the library). I also liked him because whilst he remained being a teacher he hadn't lost touch of what it was like to be a fifth grader.
On the first day when we were having 1st recess Layla and I asked if we could stay inside, the answer was a yes. Layla started getting out the magnetic dart set (that she got for her secret santa that we had in class), and we started playing. Mr. Sammy joined in and played with us. I really loved having Mr. Sammy as a substitute and hope that if we ever need a substitute again it could be him!
Thanks Mr. Sammy!!! :D :D :D

Funny Joke

There was a man, and he was deaf; one day he went to the doctor and the doctor said he had a pea in his ear. The doctor took the pea out and the man went home. When he got home his wife started yelling. The next day the man went back to the doctor and asked him to put the pea back in his ear because he could not stand his wife's yelling the whole time.

The Camping Trip

Article posted October 14, 2009 at 02:42 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 248

Well, I loved going camping. It was lots of fun because all the adults that went with us took their time to help us put up tents and to keep us safe. The food was awesome and so were the activities we did. One of the activities was a chariot race where the boys were against the girls and we had 4 girls or boys on hands and knees next to each other and then a girl or a boy would lie down on top of them, then we would race. The girls won 3 times and the boys lost 3 times.

The First Week of School

Article posted September 15, 2009 at 04:53 PM GMT0 • comment (2) • Reads 301

My first week of school was fun but we also were serious. We have a fun greeting every morning and we got to know Ms. Branch better. The only put down was that on the first day of school there was no A.C. which meant that our class was tired and droopy, but the next day was much better and we got to have some more fun. I like the way we stick to the rules and don't change them, unless we need more time and everyone is not too restless.
