 Concerned Canadian Citizen  Dear Sir I am a concerned citizen of Canada and I feel threatened by the idea of the United States taking over all of North America. This makes me feel like the Americans have no respect for Canada. Canada will not fall easily because we have the support of the British, so if the Americans try to conquer Canada they will fail quickly. This article has scared my friends and family, and now they live in fear. I tell them each and every day that the Americans will not be able to take over all of North America .Americans believe in “manifest destiny” but that it is just a belief that they have. Now that we have the railway it will be easier for us to send our soldiers to defend our towns and cities. We also have the British navy in Halifax who will be very helpful and will supply soldiers. The Americans will never own all of North America because of those reasons, so for you to say in your newspaper that the Americans will one day own all of North America is just a rumor that scares us unnecessarily.
