Deaf School Have you ever wondered how it feels to be deaf? How does it feel to go to deaf school, what do you learn? I’ll be explaining to you about information I read on the Internet, none of this is first-hand.

In a deaf school you will learn sign language, the sign language of your country. I found out the other day that countries have their own sign languages-there is no universal sign language! This is similar to our lingual languages, there’s English, Chinese, Polish, Japanese etc. However, when using sign languages the children seem to be able to pick up the language easier, there’s only a certain amount of symbols you can make with your hands! In addition to their own sign language they must learn to read and write in English and their native language. They also must study all the subjects that we learn, such as Math, Science Geography, History and everything else, only without any sound!

Many deaf children also have the opportunity to attend a public school. However, they often feel shunned and become less social and athletic. Is this the fault solely of the deaf children? I don’t think so, we as people who have been given the gift of hearing, should try to incorporate them. However, if we try to pull them in too much they may feel embarrassed by their disability. On the other hand we must not ignore them. Therefore, I think that it may be better if deaf children attend a deaf school. It is proven that they will achieve higher. This may be because of their high vulnerability and feeling of discomfort. They can be easily left aside by most people. So for the good of everyone I think they should attend deaf schools. However, we should put in more effort to understand them, their heritage and culture. For, they are humans like us.

About the Blogger
Hey guys, life is awesome. This is a photo of my favourite tamil actor. Tamil is the language that I speak at home. It originated in India. My family comes from Sri Lanka. It's a tiny island under India. His name is Vijay (vi-jae). He's acted in a couple of movies, always as the hero. Vijay is hilarious, and a really good dancer. He is awesome.
