Mercy Ships
Have you heard of Mercy Ships? Mercy Ships are like floating hospitals. They go to various countries in need of medical aid. These countries include Belize, Brazil, Cuba, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Grenada, Guatemala, Guyana, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Nicaragua, Trinidad and Sierra Leone. It consists of volunteers who travel abroad for months, years and sometimes even a lifetime. Their goal is to help the people in need by directly going and providing aid. This program has been around since about 1968. I think it is a fantastic idea; I would truly enjoy helping people who have a dire need for medical help. It is important to help other citizens of the world to rise from the darkness. Many people do not have the luxuries that we enjoy as Canadians. I agree that it is important to help people in Canada. If some one to look at this world from outside, they would find our cultural, geographical, language and religious boundries humerous. We are all humans, and it is the responsibility of the rich and healthy to help the poor and unfortunate. So, maybe you could be boarding a Mercy Ship some time soon.
