Diamonds and how they are made
How does a diamond first get made?
Where does it go after? Once it's finished what happens?
Well, the way a diamond first comes to be may sound simple, but it occurs over a long period of time.
Firstly, carbon atoms form together to make the shape of a diamond, the diamond is made out of pure carbon.
Next it gets up to the Earth's crust by volcanoes and earthquakes, however if a diamond is not cooled quickly enough then it won't form a diamond.
After being brought up to the surface they are mined out using traditional tools or by alluvial mining.
Alluvial mining is when the diamond appears in riverbanks and people get the diamond by using a pan to get the dirt out, but keeps all the heavy stuff at the bottom of it.
Once someone finds a diamond it's known as a rough diamond.
From there the diamond gets shipped to India so they can cut the diamond and make it look outstanding.
Once all the shipment of diamonds is cut to perfection they are sent out to diamond banks such as the ones in London.
Finally they lock it up for a long time until they put it up for sale either by some diamond companies or some private people.
In the end the diamond is used for showing how rich people are or as an engagement ring to marry someone. It either makes someone to be seen as a person of higher class and many rap artists and celebrities wear them for show.
In my opinion, it makes them a bigger target for robbers.
