I think it could probably be a hole puncher in this case. I made this hypothesis because of the hints and it's pretty loud when you use it, when you punch holes in the paper it makes a loud "CHK" sound. And some probably weigh like a brick. A hole punches function is to punch 3 holes into a paper so you can put it in a binder or a duotang.
