Let's turn this "chilly" weather into a time for fun. What types of things do you do for excitement on a cold day with your family, by yourself or with friends? What types of activities could you do, but have as yet not tried to do? How could we use this time to make it into an opportunity to learn something new? When your teacher is ill or has to be out of the classroom, a substitute teacher is called in. Some subs are very good. Why? What is it that makes a substitute teacher a good sub? I'm sure that you, the students, know what it takes. You know what makes for a good teacher, so in turn, you know what it takes to be a good substitute. My Hero

Article posted September 12, 2008 at 07:13 PM GMT • comment • Reads 477

A hero is someone that you look up to, you admire, and you might even try to live like. Terry Fox is an example of someone that is often referred to as a hero because of all that he did for the Cancer Society.
A person does not have to be famous in order for you to consider them a hero. For example, my hero is a man that I worked for when I was 16 years old. He was the kindest, sweetest, most considerate man that I have ever met, and he taught me some of the most important things that I have ever learned. He taught me that it was important to "dream big" and work hard to achieve my goals, and that I could do anything that I wanted to with my life. He also taught me to love and respect myself because I was a very important person. (A lesson that is important for teenagers that don't always think they are pretty enough, thin enough and so on.) But most importantly, he taught me to value the real gifts we are given in life, like health, happiness and friends.
So now it is your turn. Tell me about your hero, and for what reasons you consider this person one.
