5...4...3...2...1... HaPpY nEw YeAr=http:// Sorry I haven't blogged in a while... you know how busy December is already... plus the fact that there are 3 birthdays whithin 2 weeks for my family. Anyways, my New Year's resolutions are to stop saying "what the heck" and promote to "what in the world", to stop saying "like", to journal every day, and to stop picking at my fingers. What are yours? I am sure going to miss 2009, though. I had Mr. D. for a teeacher, I went to Ireland, the list is endless. But I think we all need to begin a new year. The economy was really bad this year, and a lot of peeople got laid off, so hopefully President Obama will fix it or put a stop to it someway or somehow. Anyways, hopef'lly I will be able to stay up to watch the countdown this year, (I was 10 last year so I'm assuming if I'm 11 I can do it now, right?) because I heard the ball looks beautiful with its crystals all light up. Alright, I've got to go... there's only 5 hours and 33 minutes left of 2009!

PEOPLE OF EARTH... PEOPLE OF EARTH... PLEASE READ ME... Hi! You guys and gals remember when I blogged about Ireland and my cousin Caitlin, right?! Well you will not believe this! From July 5 - July 25 this summer, I went to Ireland! It was soooo cool! I actually got to meet my cousins and aunts and uncles like in person! Some I have already met but who cares because I haven't seen them in a long time! I even went to the Giant's Causeway with my cousin Caitlin and her Mom and Dad! The Giant's Causeway was to be said that it was built by two giant's in a big fight. But in reality it was really built by erosion. Anyways, the country is beautiful and if you go there I will guarantee that you will love it! Got to go! Bye!

The Final Blog

Article posted June 23, 2009 at 01:42 AM GMT0 • comment (3) • Reads 1233

Hello...  School's almost over, blah, blah, blah! I'm glum. Do you know why? I'm going to miss Mr. D, Mrs. D, Mrs. Troy, and all of I think this has been the best school year of my life. Who could ask for a classroom teacher who's a computer whiz?! I mean, he made us a montage! I mean, come on? Who could ask for that?! Mr. Dugger is the best teacher in the world. I've had all of this fun, and now it has to end, right when I don't want it to. We did the craycast together, the DMSB music video, the place value rap, the blog, the wiki, myhistoryspace, the wanted signs, I couldn't ask for more. You too Mrs. D'Eramo and Mrs. Troy! I can't thank you guys enough. I think everyone else is focused on summer, while very few are focused on our school year. We're like a family being torn apart. I dont' want to move up and I don't want to go to middle school next year. I wish I could fail fourth grade and have you guys again. And Mr. D, I will never and I mean never forget "the walk!!!" It was so funny.  I even remember last August, when I got my card to say who was my teacher, I read Dugger and I was jumping up and down. Literally. And now my parents know why. And for the one last time, thank you! Goodbye!

HELLO EVERYBODAY!!! Just to let you guys know, the way to get to myhistoryspace online is http://www.myhistoryspace.ning.com, if you want to know. (Oh and go on Jaques Marquette's page! Kay, )  I think the most challenging part was to look on everyone's page just to see what country they were born in and what country they sailed for.  I would like to accomplish adding more parts that would tell Jaques Marquette's personality. I think we should dress up like our explorer and present our ning when we're done with the project. Or have a party! My favorite part was creating the gizmoz. I loved how they came out. Anyways, got to go!

I Declare Independence!!!

Article posted May 21, 2009 at 05:39 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 1012

HELLO!!! :-) If I were sitting beside Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, and the other members of the congress, lit's just say I'd be speechless. Ok, anyways, If I were chosen to write the Declaration of Independence I'd write...
... King George,
This is a letter to you declaring our independence. First, about the Townshend act, you taxed us on tea, glass, paper, and sugar! But you didn't tax the British! Why is that?! Next, you closed our ports! We can't buy, sell, or trade with any other countries! Finally, we want a trial by jury! All you say is htat we're guilty without hearing any of the facts! I mean, come on! In conclusion, we declare our independence!
Do you like it? Tell me! I would sign my name, but I would sign it sloppy. Got to go! Bye!

Hello everyone! If I were an Iroquois or Algonquin Native American living on Long Island, I would probably pick Great Britian's side. The British have a professional army and good Generals. Plus, they also have better weapons. I would feel scared because what if the side I choose doesn't win the war? Would you be scared, too?! Please comment! Bye! Kayla

What to Write???!!!

Hello again! If Charlotte from Charlotte's Web knew me, she would probably write modest. I am very modest and I sometimes don't have very high self-esteem. For example, I think that a 97 on a multiplication test is not good! Do you think that's good? I'll tell you the reason why I don't think it's good. I am the daughter of a teacher. That's right. My mom is a teacher! Anyways, got to go!

Hola senioritas and seniors! Sorry if I typed seinor instead of man in spanish, I don't speak it very well. Mr. D. has his own way of saying things. For example, if he wants you to talk to your mom about something, he would say, " Mama, I need a new a tape-a for I am workin' so hard-a" in his Italian accent. Oh, and if you meet Mr. D., don't say the word stuff. He goes bananas if you say it. And when there's a state test, he'll say he needs to read his "shpeel". Isn't he funny?! Anyways, got to go. Adiós amigos!

Hi! My favorite TV show has a three way tie! I like American Idol, Survivor, and the Amazing Race. My favorite judge on American Idol is Simon. I like him because I think his bad comments are funny. I don't have a favorite on Survivor or the Amazing race because I just watch the show for fun. My favorite holiday is Easter. What makes it so special is the easter egg hunt and spending time with family. So, those are my favorites! Bye!

Hi! I think the most important thing I learned from the presentation was that girls should be the leaders, not boys! So, tell your parents to vote for a lady as the president in 4 years! The boys shouldn't be the the leaders because the boys like wars and guns, not girls. I would reccomend this experience next year but earlier in the year, around when we're studying Native Americans. I learned so much! I would like someone who is related to someone from Colonial America to come in and teach us about the colonial times. Anyways, got to go!

Hi! I thought the L.I. Philharmonic was great! I loved how they had different types of music like they had more upbeat music and classical music. I had two favorite parts. They are when the big hippo came on stage and how they added the ballet in the Nutcracker Suite. If I had one sentence to say about the music, it would be : " A wonderful experience." What I think we should do with our video is to blend all of the parts together and make one big video of our time at the Tillies Center. I think the class would like more upbeat/ jazzy type music because Yianni said he was sleeping for part of the time and most of the class said they liked the Billy Joel and the 16 year old piano player. Anyways, Got to go!

Hi! I didn't really go on what you would call a vacation, but I did have some fun over the break. On Monday, I went to my Grandma's house and then my family went to Chili's to have lunch. On Tuseday, I went bowling with Ally and then she came over my house and played Wii. On Wednesday, I went over Megan's house and we bounced on her trampoline and made a video with her camera of us jumping. On Thursday, my family went to the Metropolitan Museum of Art with my cousin Lauren. Friday was a stay home and work day, and then on Saturday my family went to The Hall of Science in Queens. And THAT was my vacation.
Kayla
P.S. Mr. D., I figured out your challenge. in area, inch times inch = inch squared, so A times A = A squared.

Blog Advice

Article posted February 26, 2009 at 01:22 AM GMT0 • comment • Reads 1272

HELLO!!! My advice to other teachers about blogging is that usually people forget to do their weekly blog assignments. So,if you assign them, heads up! Also, sometimes, students have grammar problems like DavidWright instead of David Wright. What I was trying to say is students don't usually leave spaces between their words when they type. But I would recommend setting up a class blog because it's really fun for both students and teachers. Good luck!

Hi! I think report cards are important, but not THAT important. I think the most important report cards are the first and final report cards. My parents are the ones who really truly care about the report cards. If I could grade report cards, I would let students know how they are doing by giving them tests on each subject each month and give them the results at the end of the month. I could also give them ratings from 0-10. 0 meaning uhh duhh. and 10 meaning GENIUS. What would YOU do? PLEASE comment. PLEASE!

HELLO PEOPLE OF THE WORLD! OK. So, I think we depend too much on electricity. Sometimes people leave on TV's and lights and they take advantage of how easy it is for us to get electricity. And THAT'S how electricity bills go up. I think it would be really weird without electricity. I've been in black-outs before and it's not THAT bad, but having that for your WHOLE LIFE?! Now that, that would be really hard to live through. I can't even IMAGINE the 1600, 1700 hundreds. I would invent a document reader. It would be a thin small device that you can read important documents in. Like, the Constitution or The Declaration of Independence. Would you use it???!!! COMMENT ME PLEASE!

Hi! Hello! OK. So I wasn't at school for the LIPA presentation so I'm going to tell you a little story about Anastasia and I at a soccer game this past Sunday. So after the game, (we won!) our team was walking towards our parents, and I saw a High Voltage sign and these huge metal boxes with numbers on them for how dangerous they were (I think...) but of course I didn't touch them... High Voltage signs look like a triangle with lightning in them. So be careful!...

Hi! Hello! Today (January 20) is an important day for the USA:)! President Barak Obama is going to take the Oath of Office or the Inauguration and become The President Of The United States! After the Inauguration, there is going to be an Inaugurational Ball. There are ten balls in the same day! The press is going to be looking closly at First Lady Michelle Obama's Inauguration dress. They have this special room where the put all of the Inauguration dresses from the past years. Mrs. Obama is keeping her dress as a secret until the ball. As for Malila and Sasha, (the president's daughters) I don't really know.
My oath would be, I do solemnly swear to faithfully, truthfully, environmentally, safely, and healthfully execute the office of The United States, and defend The Constitution of The United States, so help me God.

Hi! Hello! Guess what happened to my dad? He went out to play some football with his friends from work, and he wound up tearing his achillies tendon! He had surgery in December, and he had a cast and crutches. He got his cast off a week ago, and now he has a brace instead. His doctor said that it would heal fully in 6 months. Oh and by the way for those of you who don't know, the achillies tendon is right above your foot. And it is also behind it. Anyways, bye!

My 2009 Resolution(s)!

Hello! Happy 2009! I have two resolutions. One academic and one personal. My academic resolution is to make fewer careless mistakes. I have been making very silly mistakes lately. My personal resolution is to eat un-healthy desserts only for two or three nights a week, instead of most nights. My Grandma bought not-so-sugary ice cream, so I decided I'm allowed to eat it for more than two or three nights a week. Anyways, wish me luck!

Hello! Happy Holidays! A week ago, my sister and I went outside to play in the snow, well ice. I buried her up in ice like you would in sand at the beach. I covered her up so you could only see her head and her snow boots. Then, we had a snowball, well iceball if you want to call it, fight. What happened was well, I do have to admit that I have a VERY bad aim. I aimed the snow/ iceball at Erin's stomach, but accidentally hit her in the face. Her nose and forehead were covered in blood! Well, anyways, that was my time in the snow/ice! Bye!

GARVIES POINT!

Article posted November 21, 2008 at 01:01 AM GMT0 • comment (1) • Reads 263

HELLO ALL GOOD PEOPLE OF THE WORLD! This Tuesday, our class went to Garvies Point. My favorite part was the wigwam because I got to see what some Native Americans homes looked like. The wigwam was made of wood that was spread apart with bear and another animal's fur on top. It is shaped like a hemisphere. What surprised me about the Native Americans was how they survived without everything we have today. I know I couldn't survive like that! I would definitely recommend this trip to other 4th graders because it gives you a lot of information about Native Americans. Please comment on what you know about Native Americans. Thanks!

Hi all soccer fans! This Saturday, my soccer team played an undefeated team! We've never beaten them! Not even in kindergarten! So, in the 2nd half, the score was 1-0 and we were winning. My coach asked if I wanted to play goalie, so I did. My friend Kristen scored for the other team. Then there was a hand ball, so Kristen got a penalty kick. I saved it! Then, a girl named Patricia shot it at me and I saved it again! We wound up winning 2-1 with both goals scored by my friend Kelly. We are now in 3rd place and in the playoffs. Wish me luck!

If I could dress-up as anything I wanted to, it would be a beautiful, stunning, ballerina. I would choose this because I really like the ruby red leotards and tutus that some of the ballerina's wear. Our NEW president!!!

Article posted October 21, 2008 at 10:33 PM GMT0 • comment (4) • Reads 265

Oh my gosh! Guess what!? Every 4 years, the USA elects or re-elects a new president. I think what we need in our new president is:
-politeness so he/she can get along with people from other countries better
-intelligence so he/she can rule our country with success
-environmentalism so he/she fix our country's environment
-responsibility so he/she can run our country without any mess-ups
-fairness so he/she doesn't care about only 1 subject
Last but not least, if we, Mr. Dugger's room 25 had a government, I would be the class president. I am well, all of the above. I would really like that. So, who do YOU want for our next president?

She says I can go when I'm 13 because my little sister will be old enough. I REALLY don't have to wait 4 years to go. I really want to go next summer. I guess I'll have to wait and see... Bye!

One Month, One Word

Article posted October 4, 2008 at 11:18 PM GMT0 • comment (1) • Reads 213

One word I would use to describe 4th grade is astonishing. I think I've been doing very well and I will try my hardest to work as good as I have in the past month. I think I've been doing very well and I'm proud of it. My parents say I should keep up the good work and I will. I really think I am going to enjoy 4th grade and its twists and turns. I will try my hardest to do my best each and every day.

My Favorite Book...Changed!

Article posted October 3, 2008 at 01:46 AM GMT0 • comment (1) • Reads 242

Hello people of the world!!!My favorite book has changed!!! I now like " A Crooked Kind of Perfect" by Linda Urban. This book is all about a girl named Zoe who plays the organ, but wants to play the piano. Being as I play the piano for almost 2 or 3 years, I can understand most of it. Will Zoe's dream of becoming a prodigy and playing in Carnegie Hall come true? Or will she play the miserable organ? I suggest you read it to find out!

My big accomplishment

HELLO EVERYBODY!!! I have a HUGE surprise. In my church, I am now an official usher! I help seat people, assist with the collections, hand out weekly bulletins, and help clean-up after mass. It's actually quite fun. My sister is an usher too. My dad is an usher also. My sister and I now get to go to the meetings and dinners. I can't wait for next week to wear my official pin. I'll get the scoop on the dinners and meetings for you. See you later!

Hello! I know you all have family in different countries or parts of the world. But, I have the most far-away family ever! In Ireland! My cousins, aunts, uncles, etc. etc. etc. But, my closest cousin is Caitlin. We have been e-mailing an MNS-ing* for the past few months. We even once talked on the phone together. So, if you have anyone who lives in another country or part of the world, you should comment so I can see. I would really like to hear from you all.
Talk to you later!
