Poetic June (06/02/09)
|
| Description:
|
Poetry is a creative and rhythmic way of expressing one’s self. We are exploring various types of poetry, enjoying it as a reader and we will be creating our own!
Choose a form of poetry that we are exploring and think of the following question. It was suggested by one of our students!
Think about the end of the school year and how you are going to feel on the last day of school. What do you want to do before then? How do you feel about soon being a fifth grader? You can use poetic elements like similes, metaphor, alliteration, personification, onomatopoeia, etc. Have fun!
Also, you can comment on blog entries of other students in our classroom or in classrooms that we are sharing with.
Make sure that you TRIPLE check your blog and your comments for proper capitalization, grammar, punctuation and spelling!
***Remember that a blog is NOT a journal. What you write can and will be viewed by other people, so DO NOT put any sensitive or personal information!***

School o school I came as a fool
And now I have supplies
But before that in summer I was covered with mosquitos and flies
Last year I was in the third grade
And on the last day I had a big parade
And now I'm in grade four and it's certainly not a bore
And now that fourth grade is almost over, I had so much fun
And now I have to eat a hamburger bun
And on the last day of fourth grade,
I'llhave another big parade!

We are exploring all different kinds of poetry.
Fourth Grade rocks,
I have to admit
I really hate to leave
It might tear me into bits.
Fifth Grade feels scary
I have to admit
What if the teacher gives me detention?
Just because I asked her a homework question
After all I guess it won’t be so bad after all if I just pay attention.

Year's End
The end of the you have come to date,
I'm stuck in a box and can't escape.
I wish I could stay,
Oh please, oh please,
Maybe a few weeks for me to breeze?
In only a few weeks and I am gone,
To a place named Taiwan, I tell you son!
It's quite nice and very hot,
But you don't have to sleep in a cot!
You got nice beds, and nice foods too,
It'll be nice, but school ends in June!
I'm worried sick, what should I do,
What if I miss this class way too soon?
If only school came for a few more days,
Maybe I wouldn't be hyped up in craze!
A few more days, oh please oh please,
Why does school act like a breeze?
Well this is the end, of all my buddies,
But also the end of all of my studies!
I am happy, and sad too,
I wish I could quickly choose!
Maybe I would be happier
If I could stay another day,
I'll miss this class, day after day.

Blog
On the last day of school I will be happy and a little sad. I will be happy because it is going to be a half day and we won't need to wake up early and worry about being late for school. I will be a little sad because you won't get to see your friend or teacher every day and you really won't have any thing to do unless your going to camp. Before the last day of school, I want to make one more class video. Since I am almost a fifth grader, I must say that I am really scared.

FOURTH GRADE ROX MY SOX
Fourth grade rocks, I have to admit
I'm not lying, Really!
I wish that I will never go.
I will miss fourth grade very much
it may tear me into bits!
I will try not to cry on the last day of school! I really hate to leave. I will leave all of my best friends for just 2 months, but maybe we will all keep in touch! When I become a fifth grader, maybe I could go to Mr. D's room and say him everyday! I really will miss my 4th grade class! Michelle ;-)

Roses are red, violets are blue, this blog is great and so are you. I started with this sentence because this blog is about poetry, and I will be using elements used in poems. Before the school year ends, I would like to have our final music video, it would be as fun as the playground. I feel as happy as the sun when it smiles each morning about going to fifth grade. So I hope this blog made you as happy as a clam. Bye.

I just don't want to leave fourth grade, it feels like a blockade. If I leave I won't feel great, I'll be like a little piece of bait. I don't wanna leave because fourth grade rocks, it's even better than Warren Buffet's stocks! Finally I have to say good bye, and one more thing, I like pie!!!

I am very sad
And feel very bad
To leave fourth grade
With all my memmories.
I simply wish
I could stay
In
Fourth grade.
Now comes next
Is fifth grade
And a new fresh start.
I dearly hope
This year
Will be good
As fourth grade.
And now I say
Good bye
Fourth grade
And
Hello
Fifth grade.
The End

Hi and welcome to Mike M’s blog! We are supposed to write a poem. When I go to fifth grade, I will be happy because our class will experiment with chemicals. When it is the last day of school, I will be sad because I will not be in Mr. Dugger’s class anymore. This poem is called, “Life in Mr. Dugger’s class”.
Life in Mr. Dugger’s class
The moon shines in June. Math is a blast in Mr. Dugger’s class.
When we spell nill, he lets us run up the hill.
When you think of 09 in Mr. Dugger’s class, I have memories of fun, laughs and the best year ever.
If you like this poem, please comment on my blog……
Bye

No more pencils,
No more books,
No more Mr.Dugger's looks.
Summer's here and no more tears.
Time to cheer with my peers!
Have a great summer to you all,
and see you in the fall.

Roses are red
violets are blue
I love school so do you
Can't wait for 5th grade
Hope it will be fun in the same old sun
Summer was fun but I am not a fool
That is why school is cool.
Just saying not all of that was true
But I hope summer leads us into a perfect school year

School is almost over,

Outstanding one's I'm sure,
Obviously kids can't wait for summer to begin,
Lonley classrooms are waiting for new kids to come in!

Children waiting for the bell to ring
Moms and dads waiting for their kids to come home
Then the bell rings and the kids are free
They come home with a big smile on their faces
Turning on their game consoles or computers
after dinner, they get ready for bed
They wake up the next morning
And a new day of games is started
Wait a minute I'm supposed to write a poem about me
Okay I'm going to start over!!!
I look at the clock with my head on my desk
And the faint sound of Mr. Dugger's words bouncing of my head
Finally Mr. Dugger says something about dissmissal
And the last thing I see is me on a bus going home
And my stop is next
I feel so excited so happy and so glad school is over=http://
And I never ever ever have to do homework=http://=http://=http://=http://=http://=http://=http://=http://=http://=http://=http://=http://=http://=http://=http://=http://=http://=http://=http://=http://=http://=http://=http://=http://=http://=http://=http://=http://=http://=http://=http://!!!!

I LOVED FOURTH GRADE
AND I'M SURE YOU DID TOO
BUT WHILE I'M AWAY I'LL KEEP THINKING OF YOU
WHEN I COME BACK I'LL BE IN FIFTH GRADE
AND I HOPE I WILL HAVE FUN EVERYDAY
I WILL MISS ALL MY FRIENDS
AND I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THEM AGAIN IN
FIFTH GRADE
I WOULD WANT TO DO MORE POEMS WITH YOU?

I'm jumping for joy like a kangaroo!
Laughing and screaming like a roaring a lion protecting itself from it's prey!
Saying Horay! Hooray! Yay! Yay!
Relaxed laying on my hammock.
I have fun in the sun while daises are springing out from under
Man I'm so happy schools almost over!
