 Chuck close  Chuck Close's Model  Chuck Close In 1988 a spinal blood clot left Chuck Close almost completely paralyzed and confined to a wheelchair. A brush-holding device strapped to his wrist and forum, however, allowed him to continue working. He lost his parents when he was 11. He is 57 years old right now so he is still alive. At the age of 4 he knew he wanted to be an artist and his father gave him an easel for his 5th birthday. He also likes to paint normally.
