Pukeko publishers
Our class has just begun blogging, and we are using this blogsite to create online writing conferencing. We will be starting with persuasive arguments and moving into poetry during July. Please feel free to comment on writing styles. Use a PMI approach to help us become the best writers we can be (P = positive, M = minus and I = improvement)

Hi there Room 3!
I have been traveling all around London and really enjoyed riding on the double decker buses and the tube. I have a traveling buddy - Pipi the pukeko. We discovered the Tower of London, looking at the kings bedrooms from the 13th century - that's nearly 700 years ago!
We also saw the real crown jewels in a huge safe. The doors were so thick that I could have been squashed if they had closed on me. There was a whole lot of beefeaters around the castle. No, they do not eat beef all day ! They wear red suits and look after the queen and her property. They didn't want to take a photo with Pipi and me because they said the queen paid them to talk to people not birds! That is alright, we have so many photos anyway!
Later we went to the biggest cathedral I have ever seen. It's where the royals go for weddings. We also walked to Buckingham palace. I was a little nervous when Mrs Ward put me on the fence with Pipi and a police officer came over to see me, and check that I wasn't breaking any laws! The palace was huge - imagine living there. I would hate to be in charge of vacuuming the floor.
I have made a picturetrail of some of my many photos. Hope all of you Room 3's are having a great time.
Hope to hear from you soon.
Manu.

Well school has started for the children here in the isle of Man and they all look very smart in there black or grey trousers and white dress shirts. They start wearing ties when they are 11 years old at school.
The primary school that Brad and Steph are going to has no grass! Just one big concrete area out the back, and the students all eat in the hall. We can pay for them to have hot cooked meals, and for them to get milk or orange juice every day. I don't know what the food is like, but hopefully they use Jamie Oliver's recipes!
The weather has been awful over the last few weeks, it feels like our winter and it is just at the end of their summer. The floods in Wales and Northern England haven't affected us, so we are very lucky.
Hope you are all going well. I will email Mr Steer to see about skyping you in the near future.
All the best,
Mrs Ward

Hi guys, how is everything going over there in New Zealand?
We arrived here a week ago and had my brother's wedding. It was great meeting all these cheeky Irish people, and the Isle of Man people - who call themselves Manx.
I hope Mr Lee is enjoying your company and you are doing some great inquiries.
I will catch up with you again soon, with some photos of Manu the Morepork and his adventure.
All the best,
Mrs Ward

Hi guys,
We have been at this conference for half and hour and look what we have done so far!
We watched this video. It is so funny. The idea behind it is that everyone in the whole world loves to dance - well almost. As teachers we need to find what you all love to do, and teach you more things that you will love too.
Hope you are enjoying your day off!

We have been working alongside the Terrific Learners (Amie Lee Foster's class) to explore, discuss and present our ideas on the school vision. We meet and carried out really in depth discussions about the school's vision. We read myths about the Papamoa hills and Mount Maunganui. Later we joined into groups and wrote metaphor poems about waves, the hills and the waka. We then used these to write poems about what TAKP took from these symbols.
We made a display - yes, we made it, we drew our own waka, added our photos, made the hoe for paddling our waka, and made the seven waves that represent our school's learning. The photos are added in a blog below.
Now we have finished our work, we sat down a discussed what being TAKP means to us. Here is our finished work.
