These are pictures Mrs. MC sent of her school in New Zealand. One of the signs has the school motto in English. The other is the motto in Maori. We'll do some research to find out more about the Maori.

Our new friend Canuck arrived today from Canada. We are excited to start showing him our city and state. Check out his blog under LOOPERS. We'll be writing about his adventures here in Minnesota.

We voted on an animal mascot to represent Minnesota and the deer got the most votes. Meet Bambi the Deer. He will soon be on his way to Vancouver, British Columbia to stay with Mrs. Mathieson's class. He's going to have many adventures to tell us about when he returns to us in May. The first graders in Canada are sending us Canuck the black bear. We're anxious to get to know him and share some Owatonna and Minnesota culture with him.

First Graders, Ms. Tarasevich from Russia sent us a comment under our pictures of the early snow we had. She tells us about the winter season starting in Russia. If you go to the links and click on her name you'll see pictures of the season of fall where she lives. Do they remind you of anywhere else?

Boys and girls you were right, it did snow! This is what we woke up to on October 10th. It's unusual for us to have snow this early in Minnesota. I hear there's more on the way. Get out your boots, snowpants, hats, mittens and winter coats. Hey, do you think it's snowing where our Canadian friends live? Maybe we'll hear from them.
