Today we had a fabulous time celebrating all of the things we have learn't about South Africa while having our Travel Buddy Zakumi with us.
We greeted each other is Afrikaans and painted stips in traditional Ndebele Colours and shapes.
We danced to the 'Waka waka' song, the official song of the Fifa World cup. We played soccer with our Zakumi ball and built our 'African Big 5 Wild self' on buildyourselfwild.com.
For lunch we all took the role of Master Chef and made Babotie,a traditional South African mince meal. It was yummmmmmmy!
At the end of the day it was time to say goodbye to Zakumi. We tied a an orange tiki around his neck to wear and put stickers in his Siver fern bag for the children and a key ring for the teacher, Mrs Matthews.
It is sad saying goodbye to a friend but we know that he will be looking forward to going home. What a fabulous way to learn about another culture and country.
Lekker Tyd! Very Good!

We have been learning how to form the maori pattern used in art called the koru. We learn't that the traditional colours to use were Black, Red and White. Here we are putting our ideas onto a piece of art work to share with all that visit our learning space.

We visited the Rotorua Museum in Week 2 to see the interactive exhibit called Tickle my senses. We explored how we can appreciate art by using the 5 senses we have. This got us thinking lot's about learning from Term 2. Take a look at our pictures of creating with clay by being blindfolded!
