23 August 2009

The Honourable Tim Gosner
Minister of Conservation
Parliament Buildings
Wellington

Dear Mr Gosner

We have heard that there is some funding available to control our invaders that wreck NZ’s bio diversity. There are lots of invaders in NZ but we think that stoats have a major impact to NZ’s wildlife.

Firstly, they chew tree roots which are joined to trees and it needs their roots to breathe.

Secondly, stoats kill our native birds and steal their eggs. If stoats kill our native birds there won’t be a native bird like the kiwi or native animals to represent our country, NZ.

Finally, they’re a major threat to our eco-system. We rely on birds to get rid of annoying bugs and if there are no birds there would be more annoying insects.

In conclusion we say that stoats have the biggest impact to our bio diversity. Therefore we believe we should get the funding to start a campaign, to show the public what this pest is doing to our wildlife.

Yours faithfully

Maria and Timera

Our plan using google sketchup

Our Model
The high jump
The high jump is used with tubes and a box it lets them be challenged with their food. The reason why we built this enrichment toy was because they are smart and strong and they use weapons to get in too their food.

To build this high jump there were 5 small and tall tubes standing and going across.
There was a box with food in it.
There are 5 cylinders standing.
There is one 3D shape square.
Method
It works by climbing on top of the cylinders to get there food.

Milo was walking on the damp floor and trees were overhanging above the dirty ground. The wind was so cold it felt like a freezer. The twigs cracked as Milo takes a tumble on the ground. Milo finds himself in the most shadiest place and cannot see his predators. Milo has sharp claws that spike out when he is trouble. He has a lizard tongue that can hiss like a snake. He has blue fluffy feathers that glimmer in the sun. Milo can leap side to side with his long tiger arms and legs. He has got pitch black wings that area s dark as the night sky. Milo has spiky hair like a hedgehog.

As Milo was running along the pathway he couldn’t see where he was going because of all the fog. It was so foggy he tripped up on a gigantic rock. He had to go to hospital because he had broken his rib. Once he came out of the hospital he had to use crutches.

My holiday recount (1st attempt with no teacher assistance)
Well it all started when me and my family got invited to my nesses 1st Birthday her name was kelijae when we arrived we had somthink to eat when we fineshed eating me and my cousins jumped on the bounceycastle we jumped so high we could almost touch the roof. then we help my Kelijae open her presents she had so many presents her room was filled of them then it came to the end of the Birthday when everyone started to head home

Holiday recount (reworked with teacher conferencing)
The fast biscuit
I went on a fast biscuit. The biscuit was so big that 3 people could fit in it. We had gone to the lake to give it a go. It went so fast it felt like I was riding on a chettahs back. We went far out into the ddep. I felt a tickle feeling on my legs so I looked down. It was an enormouse pile of seaweed. The seaweed felt limy like a slug leaving its trail on my legs. It felt so weird that I screamed my hardest. We zoomed back to the hot golden sand. Where I laid down in our big blue tent.
