We finally finished our first class book. We are very proud of our acocmplishments. Our book is about our first unit in Social Studies called Identity. We learned about our family, school and community. The book we created is an ABC book about the different things we see or do in our community, family and school. We hope you enjoy. We also got to learn how to speak in a microphone.

Today we went on a field trip to a Hutterite Colony. We compared and contrasted the different schools and communities. They have school in a one room school house. They are very lucky to have delicious lunches too. We had a lot of fun :)

The grade 3 students participated in the annual OREO Project, where we learned how to estimate, measure and graph. First we estimated how many cookies we thought we could stack before the Oreo's tumbled. After, each group had a turn at stacking the oreo cookies and then recorded the highest amount before they tumbled. Our class average was 14 cookies. Stacking the cookies was harder then we thought. Our predictions were really high. We then posted our results and found out 18 cookies is the average of the 4,000+ schools participating in the project. We wondered what strategies they used?
