I Am From
I am from my grandma’s toilet, all decorated with fancy lamps and pink carpet, from her bed, so spongy and pink. I am from the morning looking at my grandma knitting a jacket for me so that I would be warm. I am from birthdays when my mom tells me to dance with other kids I don’t know and how embarrassing that is. I am from looking at my helpers eating, from slumber parties, from dressing up like Cinderella and putting make up and lip stick.
I am from going to the beach with my grandma and her scrubbing sun screen on my face, from her buying me silly toys, from having lunch with all my family and my grandma talking about herself and only her.
I am from singing on stage and inviting my grandma to the concert and her talking to my friends in French, I am from liking a boy in KG1 and my grandma telling him that I like him.
I am from screaming at my brother because he is touching my stuff AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA, from listening to my father mowing the lawn, hearing my grandma shout at her helpers for more oil and more water. I am from tasting the food that she cooks, to tell her if it good and if she needs to add something, I am from braiding my friend’s hair with beads, from sitting in the dining room and hearing my grandma talk about herself and that she is thin. I am from looking at my biggest cousin and how she used to put her make up and asking me if she looks pretty.
