Yay! We are there. Where? Maungatautari of course. What is Maungatautari? It’s a really big mountain that we walk up and look at the native birds. You have to press a button that lets you in then you shut the door and open another one. Then go through and see the birds.
Mrs Collins had a jar and a cork. She spat on the jar and rubbed it then it made a noise like a fantail. All the way the fantail followed us because we disturbed the insects.
We saw some kakariki and two eggs. Then we went off track under logs, through trees and over logs.
“Why are you crying Casey?”
“The bees stung me.”
Eden got stung too and Fyfe and Josh. It would have hurt.

On Saturday Room 4 went to Extreme Edge. There were heaps of walls. We had a look then got a harness put on us. Then we could start. But the parents had to get ready and hook us up to their belt. Then we could climb, climb, climb. You are nearly there. Keep climbing. You are there. When you are ready to come down, I am down, down. Now the ladder. Up, up, up, down, down, down. I made it up and down. I am tired. Time to go now.

I am working with Eden and we are doing the wings and fingers. The fingers were really hard to make because I had to find fur to put on them. I had to make them the right measurements.

The Livewires live in the Waipa District in New Zealand. It is very peaceful where the Livewires live. Ten Livewires live in town and 14 Livewires live on farms. There are lots of farms. They have dairy cows and beef cattle. Some also have kiwifruit and maize too. For you who don’t know what a dairy cow is it is a cow that people milk. Do you like cheese or butter? They are made from milk.
These are the towns – Te Awamutu and Kihikihi. These are the number of people – 10 000.
There are extinct volcanoes. They are named Pirongia, Kakepuku and Maungatautari. They are looking after the native birds. They have to keep pests out.

A kiwi is a New Zealand bird. The kiwi is nocturnal. That means they sleep at day and hunt at night. The kiwi is 45 cm high. The kiwi egg is larger compared to their body size. A kiwi is about the size of a farmyard hen but their eggs are six times larger than a hen’s egg. The male incubates the egg for 65 to 75 days. The burrow is one to three metres long.
