I'm working with Berber. We were making the belt and the necklace. We had to stuff the newspaper in the necklace which is cotton fabric. Berber helped me with the belt with blood covered with teeth on top. We had a great time.

Where we live

Article posted September 25, 2009 at 02:57 AM GMT0 • comment • Reads 293

The Livewires live in the Waipa District in New Zealand. It is very peaceful in New Zealand because it rains and makes you feel snug and warm. Also there is not that much traffic and we have green grass everywhere.
Of the Livewires there are 10 that live in town and 14 live on farms. There are lots of farms in the Waipa District. They are mostly dairy farms. Dairy farms deliver milk from the cows to make cheese and butter also they grow kiwifruit, maize and beef.
We have some small mountains that used to be volcanoes. Their names are Pirongia, Kakepuku and Maungatautari. Maungatautari has a bird sanctuary and the mountain has a fence 50 km long to keep the pests away such as ferrets, stoats, rats, cats and dogs.

Kiwi

A kiwi is a type of New Zealand bird. Did you know that the kiwis eggs nearly take the whole body? They are six times larger than chicken eggs. The male incubates the kiwi egg for up to 65 to 75 days. The kiwis eat worms, insects and berries. These sorts of birds are native and flightless. They are brown and have a very long beak. The kiwis are very special because they are the only birds in the world that have their nostrils at the tip of their beak.

Kangaroos

Article posted September 9, 2008 at 01:34 AM GMT0 • comment (6) • Reads 409

Kangaroos live in Australia. Joeys live in a thing called a pouch. A kangaroo is the boss of the mob but if another kangaroo wants to be boss of the mob they start a fight like kick boxing.
They smell, hear and see really well. There are lots of colours of a kangaroo. They can bounce really high. They eat grass and plants. When it’s a hot day they lie under trees. But when it’s a cold sort of day they lie in the sun. The baby joey is safe in the pouch and drinking milk. They stay safe in the pouch. They have really sharp claws. Their legs and tails are very strong.
