My favorite restaurant is Chilies, because it has all of my favorite food. I am looking forward to go to it next Saturday with my family. In my opinion its best food are the burgers, they are delicious. This is why I like it a lot, and if you have not tried Chilies, you should.

The three-day vacation was boring because I could not get out of my house. On Saturday, I worked on my math skills and I tried opening my Mixbook but it would not open, so I worked some more on my math. On Sunday and Monday, I wrote on the Blog and worked on my mystery story. That is how I spent my three day vacation.

I am really exited about my graduation this year, because I am going to be in middle school. However, I am going to miss all my teachers and my principal. I have been five years in elementary and I am going to miss it a lot. However, I am looking forward to going to sixth grade and meeting new teachers.

My favorite book I read is called Candy Floss. I like that book because it is very catchy. It talks about an 11-year-old girl whose parents are divorced. Floss’s mother got married again to a man named Steve. Floss did not like Steve, her step dad, he is really mean to her. Floss’s dad did not get married again. Every weekend Floss would go to visit her dad.

Annie Rossi was an eight-year-old girl that had no sisters or brothers; she was an only child. Annie’s mother (Mrs. Rossi) is a sixth grade teacher, and her father (Professor Rossi) is a professor in a university. When Annie’s parents were at work Annie would have a baby sitter. There came a day when Mrs. Rossi got sick and no one thought she would die.
Now it I only Annie and her father in a big, quiet house. Weeks and days passed by but nothing was the same for Annie and her father. One day Mrs. Rossi’s old school sent a letter inviting Annie and her father to the Winter Assembly.
In the end of the assembly, Annie and her father were given a book about Mrs. Rossi, from Mrs. Rossi’s sixth grade class. This book meant a lot to Annie and her father, and every time they had nothing to do, they would read that book.

Pyramids

Pyramids were built in different sizes and shapes as tombs for Egyptian pharaohs and their queens. Building pyramids started flat-roofed, with mud-brick kind of stones. From the inside, the pyramid was similar to a large town including temples, courtyards, and chapels. It was a maze of tunnels. Archeologists believe that this architecture might make robbers change their mind about stealing the pharaoh’s gold.
According to historians’ records, 20,000 to 30,000 workers participated in the building of the pyramids.
The largest pyramid, which was ever built, in 2611 B.C., took about 2.3 million blocks of stone weighing around 2.5 to 15 tons each. One block would have to be in place every two and a half minute.
There are 80 known pyramids today from ancient Egypt. The most famous pyramid is known as the ‘Great Pyramid’, which was built for the pharaoh Khufu.

Math reflection

The five topics that I learned in Math and affected me drastically are discount, taxes, fractions, scores, and graphs.
After learning about discount, I am now able to understand how stores’ managers calculate final prices during sales time, or when buying an item.
For example: You bought a pair of shoes which was for $200. Its final price after the 50% discount became $100. How was it done?
$200 * 50 = 2* 50= $100
100
Regarding taxes, I now understand better how they are added to the initial price.
For example: At the bottom of the receipt that we get after buying groceries at the supermarket, there is an added value tax that is added to the bill. When we buy clothes, we have to look at the initial price and add to it the tax.
Fractions helped me practice multiplication and division as I became faster when working on these operations.
Learning about scores was useful to me because I now know how to find my own test scores, and to understand how the teacher calculates our grades.
The fun part was learning about graphs. I can now read and draw graphs on graph paper. I also know the difference between bar graphs and stem graphs.

Birds are humming,
Flowers are blooming,
People are singing,
Snow is melting,
The sun is rising,
It’s time for spring,
I can smell the fresh air,
I can feel the wind in my hair,
It’s time for spring,
It’s time for children to cheer and play,
It time for us to have our spring break!

Freaky Friday

One of my favorite movies is “Freaky Friday”.
The characters that are in the movie are the mother, stepfather, brother, and Ana the sister. Ana's mom is always serious, and likes Ana’s brother the most. Ana is the kind of person that always makes problems with people, and gets detention all the time. Her brother always misbehaves but never gets caught. The stepfather is always patient with Ana because Ana hates him.
The problem in the story is that they go to a Chinese restaurant, and they get a fortune cookie. That fortune cookie said that Ana and her mother were going to change each other's bodies. They did not believe it. The next day something strange happened, and they were not the same. So they tried to solve the problem but they could not solve it.
The day the mom was going to get married they felt a little bump in their bodies; that bump meant that they were back to normal. So the mother got married and all of them lived happily ever after. And Ana started to like her stepfather.
